WebEpg and Show description (1 Viewer)

Hi, i am using tv.yahoo.com to grab my epg data, and i was wondering if there is a way to grab the program descriptions and actor info and all that extra stuff with webEPG.

Hi Opusnut

EPG will only provide whatever broadcasters wish to issue.
Weeweetodds plugin deals with tv.com and pulls in more info,
but tends to be more geared up to series. Give it a try and see
what you think.

Ok i will give it a look. Yahoo does supply show description info, but only once you click on a show from the grid listings page that epg uses. Is there a way to send webEpg to grab all that info once it was compiled a tvguide file from the grid listings page?

Hi opusnut,

I just updated the tv.yahoo.com config a few days ago. So descriptions should work now. Please try a current CVS and let me know if it is working for you. You will need to enable linked pages and enter the time, in the config program.

At the moment I'm not getting actor info, but this is possible in the future.

I would be also interested in the channels you are using. If you have added extra channels, would you send a copy of your config file to me so I can include them in the CVS and other can benefit.

Hi james, I cant use the cvs builds; my capturecard doesnt seem to want to work with them. Do you have a new copy of webepg that will work with RC2??

Hi opusnut,

You should be able to run WebEPG with the files from the CVS build. Without installing it over the top of your working version.

I think all the files should be there. Worst case make a copy of your working install and put the CVS over the top. Then run WebEPG.

I tried running the latest cvs on another pc, and when i ran webepg, it still didnt get the desciptions.

Hi opusnut,

It works here. I just downloaded CVS: mediaportal-cvs-03-12-2006--01-04.rar

Put it in a new folder, added a few of your above channels to the config and ran it. First an error no "xmltv" directory. So I created that and then it ran again.

Hi james, I seem to have gotten it to work it the current cvs but after it grabs about 7 days i get this error in the log.
