MediaPortal 0.3 will take some additional months until it's out. We'll go the way with test versions, release candidates, etc. There is no publishing date for neither of them yet.
Yes, it will use WPF then, we're currently working on it.
With the "next generation" of MediaPortal all those animations should be possible at the end, but there's nothing to be shown yet and still a long road to go.
When there is something available to the public, you'll be able to read it in the homepage news section, of course. We'll keep you informed & updated, as always.

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).
