Forgot to say: yes I think it would be wise to simplify the config files because it was a turn off at the first trial (too long and too complicated for a first time user).
already did that, but just to be clear, the files CHANNELKEEP,CHANNELREMOVE, CHANNELCOPY and CHANNELRENAME are all optional, so it is not necessary to define the channels that you want to keep, if CHANNELKEEP isn't there then all channels will be kept, you just feed our XMLTV importer more data that way.
EDIT:
I added an new feature for you, that will simplify setup, you can now give a filename location wich will after running xmltv rewriter produce a list of all available channels in the combined files. Now you just have to delete the ones that you don't want from that file and copy the remaining to your CHANNELKEEP and perhaps CHANNELRENAME
Thank you for your help. After setting up the channelkeep list for both providers (I deleted those i don't need as you suggested) I could successfully load EPG data in DVBViewer. Now I need to pair channels to match DVBviewer channel names. It would be a lot easier if everybody was using the exact channel names from the satellite... I also need to combine those 2 grabs and add a few missing channels from mc2xml so there is still a lot of work to do.
I 've missed something ... What do you put in the config3 file to join the 2 xml produced by config1 and config 2? If there is the same channels in both files, will the 2 replace the 1?
Sorry to be annoying
Hello, I had a lot of double and triple IDs for the same channel so I had to go through all that, see which one is the correct one and elliminate the others. The big issue is to know in which gz file is located the channel i want to keep so I dont download gz files for nothing.
Well now I think I got it correct, they are all paired to my dvbviewer channels. Only a few missing: in Cyfra+ I miss TVP info and Discovery ID.
Now I would like to run it as a scheduled task every night but it refuses to start Any tip on that?
It should run with a scheduled task, but you also need to define in your task, the 'START IN/RUN FROM' folder, this is the folder path where the exe is located, because if you don't do that XMLTV reWriter doesn't know where it is and it can't load its config files.

Update: Problem solved!
The electronic program guides (tvguide.xml) have been successfully transferred to MediaPortal.
The issue stemmed from the corruption of one or both of the mc2xml.dat and/or mc2xml.exe files, for an unknown reason. Consequently, even though the tvguide.xml file appeared to be updated, its content kept being an...

I used to use the grabber but a few years back it disappeared on FreeSat DVBS. That is when I changed to EPG Collector. The extra benefit is that it collects from the Sky platform so it will give EPG for all the FreeSat channels plus the unencrypted movie channels on the Sky platform. It also allows me to pick the channels dedicated...
