Hi! I start this thread because I did not find any thread covering this specific issue. I hope to help others with my findings. I had a strange problem with my setup (GA-MA78GPM-DS2H motherboard with 780G/hd3200 chipset, 128 MB sideport vRAM + 512 MB shared RAM, Vista, EVR, PDVD 7.3, Phenom, Catalyst 8.9): super picture...

MP1 MP2 which htpc cases ? DE
Hello Which htpc cases are the best match for media portal? Very important for me is that remote controls work properly with MP and that LCD, VFD... display information properly. I would like to control htpc only with remote control (after set up), that means power on and off, playing dvd, x264, blu ray with remote and then...

Hi, I'm currently looking into setting up a Dedicated TV Server to support 4-5 clients. As a server what is the most important thing to look into to ensure the clients are being serviced properly with no stuttering? I'd like it to also be able to record and stream HD content. I already have gigabit connections running across the...

After getting no description of how to activate it I spent a few hours until I found out by myself. After installing PowerDVD8 and selecting the decoders in MP one also have to make sure that HW Accell is also selected in the expert mode. Also under Visat I had to select EVR. But HW Accell will only work if one goes into the settings...

likos, have you seen this thread? https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/development-91/finally-working-ip-tv-solution-tv-server-44158/ Instead of having a seperate PC and an analogue capture card in the server, I wonder if you could do all the internal corporate TV using a completely software setup on the server.

I don't think it is currently possible to open multiple instances of MP. (I may be wrong, I'm not in the dev scene.) The only solution that comes to mind right now is putting a fairly beefy system in your central location and virtualising multiple OSes each with its own MP client. Your host system could hold the server and one...

Yes should be interesting... I have used its predecessor the P2-M2A690G in the past with varied results. (The main problem being the lack of HD decoding power from the 690G.) Said predecessor was around $250 NZD when I got it a year and a bit ago. I would imagine this case would retail for the same or a smidge more. The case...

Hi there Tmac, I played around with the Asus P2-M2A690G barebone which uses almost identical (but smaller) motherboard. It was back when the LG Blu-Ray/HD DVD combo drive had just come out and I was hoping to get HTPC Blu-Ray playback from a small form factor. The barebones with that motherboard was the best IGP solution that...

First rule: don't purchase anything you can't give back in short time. TVCards are wild horses that sometime excapes from our control. I suggest you to take a look at the blackgold BGT3500 It is a dual tuner card with old PCI interface. If you buy it, please let me know how it works. Pérobably I will have to change my analog board...

I'm really excited to get this implemented in my house. I've been doing some research over the last 2 weeks and I must admit I'm still quite confused. I'm pretty sure that the board & the CPU you suggest won't do HDTV, and I'm positive that it won't do BluRay, unless the board has some mystery hardware-chip for BluRay built-in :) Go for something with integrated GPU, that supports at least HW-decoding of H.264, and perhaps coupled with a cheap dual-core it will be enough. For...

690V or G works fine, playing mkv-files shouldnt be the problem for this chip when u use sucha strong cpu. perhaps 2GB would be better. I have used 690G with X2 4000+ an 1GB Ram and all worked pretty fine. If u can, you should buy a 780 chipset with same cpu and 2gb ram. then its really fast but cheap

Hi Fromaron, I agree with PD that Via has some issues that would limit your HTPC. But as always, it is all in your requirements: if you want the server to be on 24/7 then there is no need to go to standby etc. My guess would be that the VIA EPIA 1.0 Ghx is up to the job when used only as a tv server and with hardware encoding TV...
