This is specifically referring to Dolby True HD and DTS-HD, these are the audio formats used by Blue-Ray and HD-DVD. The Dolby Digital and DTS formats used by 'normal' DVDs can be transfered via S/PDIF and will not be downmixed. Regards, Jan

I had a similar problem where all movies would come to a horrible stuttery halt after about 40 minutes. No end of driver updateting and settings changes fixed it. This was also the case if I played the movies in windows media player. In the end I resolved it by installing Reclock (it's the first hit if you google 'reclock'). I...

That is only on more recent Samsung TVs. The firmware for my slightly older LE40R74BD does not exist with that option. I know because I called the service centre myself, thanks for the thought though.

I don't know your potential when it comes to what you can do with the case (box). But it will be very tricky to get a regular X2 4400+ CPU working quietly in that case (my opinion). The problem with it, as I see it, is that the case is too low. This will make it hard to get a cpu cooler in there that can do the job as well as stay...

Hey guys, I'm running an AMD system (3.0 dual core) with a GeForce 8800 GTX. I also have the media pc motherboard from ASUS (M2NPV-VM). I'm running Windows Vista. I have all this running into a 720p High Def. Epson projector. I was wondering what the best input PCI card for high def video would be for this set up. :thx:

You might have to make your own to get it for a reasonable price. When connecting my projector to an HDTV STB I just made the componant to D-Sub cable. Usually these speciality cables are fairly expensive. Another idea...does your projector have a VGA connector? Mine does so I figure you're might. You can use the VGA connector...

I will give my spec later when I'm at home. I know what you mean graemef, but I was hoping the TV card would work without having to be the exclusive use for the PC. I agree has been fun building my htpc - people couldn't believe how much i spent, but yes if had bit more cash then I myself would go for better kit which would cost more money, and would reach around £2000+ mark but the wife would go potty if i spent that kind of money now... it's hard enough me trying to persuade her that we...

Not a bad setup. How is the quality on the Twinhan box? I was thinking about getting a AD-TU501 for my laptop to do HDTV/radio. Is that a good solution for this problem? I am also a little worried about if it will work well with MP. Any thoughts?

fun while it lasted :S Seems my joy is to be short lived. After a few months of stable htpc use, my pvr150 did a nose dive. At first it, stopped changing channels and then it died almost totally. It could be picked up by the os but would not install properly. This time I tried another machine (an old Gateway P3 with winxp sp2) with...

Hi Jayrock Thanks for your excellent advice. The TV sounds the same (or very similar) to the one you had. It is a Sony KV-28WS2U and I dug the manual out. The right hand Scart socket does indeed cycle from normal video to SVHS. So the first time it switches it is composite and black and white and on the second press, colour. I...
