Back it up
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Appdata\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal, copy the folder somwhere safe.
Vista folder found at C:\program data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
These need show hidden folders enabled to view, the really critical files here are moviedatabase file and the thumbs folder.
Back it up

Well I guess the installer is trying to set up the start menu links. Are you on a restricted user account that doesn't have acce4ss to these sort of things?
I'm pretty sure MP needs to be installed by a user with administrat access.

Your CPU will not be the problem, it is still fast enough for MP.

Hi, i have serious trouble with the new MP1 after i installed, i select the first choise, i want only on my computer the tv card...

Good idea! But i thougt, that MP works internaly with Windows Messages. That means if someone assigns a button in a theme an action, than this action would be send by that button to to internal MP messagehandler.

as usual its the stupid bit between chair and console!!!, anyway i had run the tvengine installer a second time to install the client and as i had only ticked the client install box it had "un-installed" the tv-server lol

After reading postives about RC1 I thought i'd give It a try. Have been running 0.2.3 for sometime.
The install failed to properly remote the old version (ie the first step at the top of the install list)
This left all the settings/skins etc from previous active but did install RC1.

In my case switching of channels does only work with TVServer if the CI module is attached to the TechnoTrend card -- I would expect the CI to work. I'm not having a CAM though. Btw. the built-in TV engine is also working without CI module attached -- this is why this does not seem to be a Vista issue.
