on the TV guides, any program that ENDs after 12:00 midnight is counted as the next day, so when the TV grabber sees 11:00 pm as the first entry it makes everything follow that but puts 11:00 PM at the end of that day, not the start of the previous.

First - simple answer is yes you can configure MediaPortal to work with your Sky box in exactly the same way as MCE, unfortunately there's just a little more work involved (albeit imo very worthwhile).

I noticed that the page for the EPG at adnkronos.com has changed, this is the new url...
you could manually register the new channels with the new known frequencies with different names from the current ones...then import the EPG guide for them, and schedule recordings for new channels strarting from the date they will change frequencies...once you will be back from holydays just delete old channels (not working anymore)...
