What if I stop the TVService service manually and re-run the setup utility?
I would like to keep my settings/databases.

And manually stopping tvservice before update could be a good idea in case tvservice wasnt stopped on first rc3 installation.

Based on logs, it appears to be stopped.

Could you guys please check your windows eventlog -> system if the tvservice.exe was reported to have crashed while the upgrade was done?

Guys the server over here is not crashing, it's just that nothing happens if I want to start the configuration.
It runs as it started recording after installation but apparently it's still the older version.
If I rerun the setup, I only get the option to do a fresh install so I will lose all settings and database.

Hi Chris, nothing is entered in the eventlog, I had already checked it.
Does it get erased during the installation of MP or creating the logs?

No, you missunderstood me.

I am intersted if your Windows Eventlog/System shows that teh TvService.exe crashed during the upgrade.
This could explain why the file was "locked" and therefore not replaced with the RC3 binary.

We are currently trying to find scenarios in which the TvServer.exe could become "locked".

If I rerun the setup, I only get the option to do a fresh install so I will lose all settings and database.

Uninstall the Tv-Server using the normal uninstall (option 1).
After that run the RC3 installer -> fresh install -> select singleseat install -> in the install screen you will see that only TvService will be installed, since MP RC3 is detected to be present and wont be changed.

Nothing in my windows event log, that's why I wrote that it was empty and even retrying to run the tv server configuration utility, does not write anything in the windows log files.

Uninstalled the tv server, ran the setup again and all seems to be OK and it is now v1.0.7, except for an error msg that I get when starting the tv server configuration:

"Microsoft SI/PSI parser outdated!
Psicdecd.dll may not be registered properly!
Please check our Wiki's requirements page"

I have checked the documentation but there is nothing that I can find that applies to this error.

Could you please tell us if you used a plain RC2 installation of TvServer or if you had some test binaries in use?
Otherwise we will never find the cause of the initial issue.

I use nothing specially.

- power schedule plugin
- tvmovie import plugin

nothing other.

I think the issue was a problem from installer. but i only guess.

I think the issue was a problem from installer. but i only guess.

The problem is that for 3 users we know right now, the tvservice.exe is "locked" during the upgrade and therefore it does not get replaced by the RC3 version.

Why this occurs for you 3, we do not know.

I also got this problem. SetupTV.exe crashed during upgrade from RC2.

@ALL users with this issue:

Please run the following command from a Command prompt ( cmd.exe ):

"dir /s c:\program files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\*.* > %TEMP%\tvserver-list.txt"

and attach here the file "%TEMP%\tvserver-list.txt". If you are running a x64 system the first part of the path is "C:\PRogram Files(x86)\...."
