I mean a real one where i can see all the programming for the day, afternoon and evening ?

And use that to program recording. That actually works :)

Just a newbie at this. So please be nice.

Thanks.

PM Angusmann and ask him to send you the link for DUGG.
This is the best EPG grabber i've tested, and am currently using, for Australia.

    Another vote for DUGG.
I actually just found a neat setting in it today...you can rename the channels

so now mine are called, NINE, ABC, SBS, TEN and PRIME instead of the long ones that the stations call them

I found DUGG extremely simple to setup.
I've tried WebEPG before, but It did not help me a lot for the regional channels, which is something I require for my 2nd HTPC.

DUGG doesn't have a lot of documentation, but reading the instructions and having a look at the default ini file, you will see it is very simple to setup.

I'm running DUGG to give me both FTA and Foxtel both with its own time ofset in one EPG listing.

    my 2 cents

Consequently, even though the tvguide.xml file appeared to be updated, its content kept being an...

I meant use MP client to try to spot how it's requesting streams for specific channels and then try to do the same with VLC. TV Server development looks dead so I'm afraid you're going to have to figure that out by yourself if it's even possible.
