Hm, it seems that some movies are added automatically, but most still have to be added via settings.

Yes of course , you can set the auto approve in the configuration, if you set it to low, MovPic could map to the wrong movie.

    Offtopic, but a bit related:

In my opinion Mediaportal and it's plugins currently relies too much on keyboard and mouse interaction outside the Mediaportal application itself.

For me the production setup is HTPC in my living room with a remote, that's it. I don't want to fiddle stuff with the keyboard and mouse on daily or even weekly basis. Plugins should expose more functionality to the actual GUI itself. I remember an older Moving Pictures version where I had to actually wait a quite long time for the movie to show up in the UI when I had just transferred it to my HTPC since there was no refresh option (and I think there's no such option today but the file watcher has probably been improved since I don't have to wait so long).

Same goes with installing, updating and configuration of plugins, in XBMC it's pure gold.

I agree with you on the keyboard/mouse thing. That's one thing I love about XBMC. Though The features of Mediaportal bring me back to it.

    Hello

    +1

I have configured Moving Pictures to handle BD and DVD and the missing auto-approve from GUI is definitely a real weakness: when I am not at home, nobody can watch new DVD that do not get approved.

    What about adding remove configuration?

I would love to simply open Moving Pictures configuration on the other PC and approve movies.

Following a tip from the plugin author, I started naming my movie files with the IMDB ID number embedded in the file name. I now get 100% matches every time. I still think adding approval through the GUI would be a nice addition, but I admit it does not seem nearly so important now.

If you have not tried this solution, you might consider giving it a try. Just name the movie files like this whenever you add one:
    movie title (date) (imdb#).ext

    Here's an example:
Live Free or Die Hard (2007) (tt0337978).m2ts

It does involve an extra step when ripping movies, but as I said, you will get 100% matches.

An importer interface in the GUI is planned and it is actually something that has been on my mind quite a bit lately. There are other things that will have to take precedence, the follw.it website the biggest. And I would like to get coverflow support implemented soon too. Once that is done though the next big feature I want to tackle is in GUI approval management. This doesn't mean its going to happen next week or anything, but I am just saying this is an important feature for me to and it is high on my priority list.

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ? MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback. If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo. I have...
