I think these are available as a test from the Crystal palace transmitter.

They have been running tests for over a yea now from Cystal Palace in London. Not sure about the other trials but the BBC HD trial is still unning, anyone close enough to Cystal Palace should be able to pick it up, anybody know the settings please?

BBC HD is transmitted from Crystal Palace on UHF 31 (554 MHz) at all times of the day. However, it is only transmitted at 1 kW, as far as I'm aware, possibly less. I live in north London, less than 20 miles away, but the signal quality is insufficiently strong for me to watch a broadcast (although I often can get the EPG or even watch a few seconds of it).
For most of the day, it plays a high definition trailer on a loop; in the evenings, it plays high definition broadcasts.

Are you doing this from a standard aerial? I always thought you needed specialist equipment?
I am 7.5 miles away from the transmitter - worked out on Live Maps - I can't get any BBC HD.

I meant use MP client to try to spot how it's requesting streams for specific channels and then try to do the same with VLC.

that really sounds like an authorization issue. do you already have an OpenSubtitlesConfiguration.xml in the programfiles\tean mediaportal\subtitledownloaders folder? there you can fill in your credentials. I'm sure it is documented somewhere...
