Hi

Just wondered if anyone has tried the new version of CoreAVC (3.01) with MP 1.2?

I installed it and MP keeps crashing... But it could be something else at fault.

What exactly happens?
Is there an error message, does MePo freeze....?

Apologies folks for my improper post. I was really just wondering if anyone had installed it and had it working OK. I just started getting a few errors...

Since my post my system has gone into meltdown. I went back in to enable logging and post some info, but I started getting errors left right and centre - not just MP related. I got so overwhelmed by them that I decided to restore the system from a backup.

It was still no good, and I now cannot even reinstall Windows - I am getting BSOD's when I boot of the Win7 installation CD. The weird thing is that the exact STOP error keeps changing (ACPI, various drivers... too many to note).

I think maybe my motherboard has a problem. I don't know yet and am about to go away for a few days so it will have to wait. It's not that old (Gigabyte GA-H55-UD2H).

Thanks for input anyway.

What pain, I was just about to sell it anyway and now I have to fix it first!

Quick update:
I tested CoreAVC 3.0.1 on my laptop (1.2.0 BETA installed) and there were no crashes. I haven't tested seeking tho.
Maybe I will test more when I find the time.

I did some more testing on my HTPC now (MediaPortal RC SVN installed) and had no problems with seeking or anything else. Works well so far..

I did use CoreAVC during my WinXp and Vista times. But with the release of W7 and its inbuilt codecs, I am wondering why I should buy CoreAVC.

I did use CoreAVC during my WinXp and Vista times. But with the release of W7 and its inbuilt codecs, I am wondering why I should buy CoreAVC.

I found I only needed it for the UK HD Channels (BBC One HD,. BBC HD, ITV HD etc).
The MS codecs and PDVD codecs all had issues, and didn't handle a bad signal very well. CoreAVC however seems to work perfectly.
The setup i've found to work - MS Codecs for all except: PDVD Codec for Video h264 (for Blu Ray playback) and CoreAVC for TV h264. Anything else had some sort of issue! hours of trial an error!

It's a good codec and the latest features would have been fantastic a few years ago. It just seems completely redundant though now unless you're still on XP.
