how about adding a "help the mediaportal project - report on your MP usage" install- or configure-time option to a new version of MP itself? opt-out by default for privacy reasons. when enabled, it sends some small file to MP project server each time MP starts or when running. Just use the server logs to count the IP addresses that upload said file to server, you don't even have to put anything meaningful in the file.

AW: count of active users

Today I was observing my network with wireshark while starting MediaPortal (wanted to see the MagicPacket which should start the server). I was surprised by that line:
Source--------------------Destination--------Protocol-----Info
192.168.178.100-------188.40.65.250----HTTP---------GET /index2.php?option=com_rss&feed=RSS1.0&no_html=1 HTTP/1.1

The source IP is my client, the destination a website with the text "It works".
I was wondering why/what this does? Any idea?
The infoservice plugin maybe?

If such a get method would start when you install MP and increase a online counter (decrease when uninstall) we would have a nice user counter :D (privacy problems? maybe with a tick box to allow/disallow)

Greetings Fellow MP'rs. Does anyone out there use tvguide.com to access TV listings..? If so, can you advise on how it is set up for use with MediaPortal..? I havebeen using Zap2XML / GraceNote but that just died (for me alone seemingly) and I am out of listings. :( Would appreciate any help - Thanks.

I currently have two Quatros running, one connect, one duo using OTA antennae, mostly UHF fringe area, mostly cat5 local network. Hauppauge card retired long ago. I have also retired very early SD units, the Quatros seem to work much better than the older units. Go to SD's support website and download and install the windows...

Fixed, I think. Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this. Last time when I installed the...

Thanks very much, Jasmeet. Worked. But note that this setting has moved, apparently, to: Settings > TV (not Plugins)

Well, I had already recognized your problem, but I still wanted to point out the basic connections once again. Unfortunately, I don't have a fundamentally different solution for you, but with this approach you should achieve your goal. ;) The idea of first setting the current genre colors with the defines is certainly a good one, as...
