Yes, ssh tunnel is perfect for me. I can try and use it as a socks proxy.

I have some good news. I was able to get Wat.tv to work. Find attached the dll named OnlineVideos.Sites.titof.dll. It should go in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows\OnlineVideos.

Features that I added and tried:

• Fixed Wat.tv playback
• Added thumbnails, airdate and duration in video listings page
• Excluded shows from video listings page which were not really part of the show

As an example, I have gone to Wat.tv -> Replay TV -> person-of-interest-tf1 and played a few 40+ minutes episodes. They played without geo restrictions.

Automatic publishing of this dll is not possible at the moment as ownership of the dll still resides with titof. Changes have been committed to svn (1, 2 and 3).

This is the best I could do at the moment. Let me know what you find. I also fixed one slight area of TF1 (Wat.tv extends from TF1), so perhaps someone could give TF1 a try as well. I know the catalogue in TF1 is ancient and needs to be redone. Perhaps later, I will give it a shot.

Yes, ssh tunnel is perfect for me. I can try and use it as a socks proxy.

For other people who might be following this, the ssh tunnel can indeed be used as a socks proxy (thanks to @azzuro). However, sadly, this does not work for RTMP or HLS streaming as MPUrlSourceSplitter (reportedly) does not follow proxies.

Both identities are same, it's me. In theory (it is implemented by used libraries, but it's not in filter), for all protocols is supported SOCKS4, SOCKS4a, SOCKS5 and SOCKS5h. But implementation of proxies in OnlineVideos is big change - especially in part of constructing URL's where is need to add proxy.

This leads me to question, why do you need proxy? Only for SSH tunnel or your internet provider requires to use his proxy server?

My usecase for using SOCKS5 proxy via ssh tunnel was to allow bypassing of geo-lock restrictions.

I don't have access to a VPN, but @azzuro was kind enough to set me up with a ssh connection to a French IP address. I enabled SOCKS5 proxy forwarding via the ssh connection and set up my Internet Connection settings to go via the localhost 1080 socks5 proxy. All browser traffic would show up as originating from France.

Unfortunately Adobe Flash and MPUrlSourceFilter does not (apparently) support the proxy settings. So, the IP address gets geo-restricted.

Some google searches suggest sockscap for windows might work. I will try that next, when I and @azzuro hook up with the ssh connection next.

Ended up using ProxyCap (unfortunately, a cracked copy). So far, I am able to redirect all MePo traffic to a US ssh account that I have access to. Hopefully, when I hook up with @azzuro, I can do the same for French ssh account.
