Managed to get through to the D1 service this morning. Took several attempts. I seem to have Brisbane SBS back, none of the others though.

Hmmm.... I can access the service again as well! Don't know what the data's like though...

EDIT: Looks alright to me, for Melbourne anyway. Still no descriptions though - maybe their new source doesn't provide descriptions...

BTW, I have posted a message on the oztivo-guide mailing list about their thoughts on me creating a xmltv grabber program with their data. Awaiting reply...

Looks like it's back up again (6pm, Sun 14th). Still no descriptions though.

I found a little page that has some au xmltv stuff on it. Haven't had a chance to play with any of it yet though. http://www.cyber-fish.com/mythtv/

The stuff down the bottom looks the most interesting using D1 as a source.

It's also possible to do a post to http://www.yourtv.com.au/guide/index.cfm to get data back as html. Not too sure about the legalities involved or the amount or work required for an xmltv conversion but it seems feasible.

Haven't really got much time to look into any of this in a lot of detail, still getting the hardware side of things organised before I get stuck into the software.

They've been up and down during the weekend...hopefully all they're doing it changing data sources, not blocking people out or anything.

Yeh, but that's a perl script designed for linux. Besides, its basically the same as my grabber, as it grabs data from D1 as well. So it will suffer the same problems as I am, in fact if you look at my earlier posts, there's a few threads on the mythtv mailing list about how the D1 data service is failing.

There's basically no point in parsing webpages because all you end up with are legal takedown notices - the guy who made the linux one and posted it up for everyone has received several, one from ebroadcast, one from yahoo, and one from HWW i think...

So I'm going to stick to using the oztivo guide data. If you want to check out the quality of their data, see http://kleptog.org/cgi-bin/oztivo.pl

I don't know if you're the guy who emailed me about this, so here's my reply again:

Unfortunately, it seems that the data does not exist.
I looked at the data source directly, and the program
data is missing (the channels do exist at the service
though). So, maybe in the mean time (the D1 service
has been a bit rocky recently - they were changing
data sources), you can download the Melbourne data and
use the TimeZoneDifference feature (see inside
D1XMLTVGrabber.exe.config) to change the times to
Adelaide times (sorry, don't know if Adelaide times
are +1000).

    D1 XML TV Grabber and Media Portal

    Hi guys,

    Many of you are posting questions regarding grabber configuration.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Download http://members.dinkum.net.au/plai33/D1XMLTVGrabber.zip
    2. Unzip into C:\XMLTV
    3. Rename D1XMLTVGrabber.exe to XMLTV.exe
    4. Open C:\XMLTV\D1XMLTVGrabber.exe.config and find the following line:

    <add key="FilePath" value="C:\tvguide.xml" />

    Rename to ...

    <add key="FilePath" value="C:\XMLTV\tvguide.xml" />

    5. Also find the following line:

    <add key="region" value="Melbourne" />

    and rename value to the name of the city in which you live

    6. Open Media Portal Configuration
    7. Go to Television > Program Guide
    8. In the "General" tab set the "Folder which contains the XML TV File (tvguide.xml) to C:\XMLTV\
    9. In the "Scheduler" tab select any grabber e.g. tv_grab_uk_rt
    10. In the Parameters texbox enter the following: -grab

    Thats it ... Save settings and and click "Run Grabber". You may want to modify the C:\XMLTV\D1XMLTVGrabber.exe.config file to download 7 days worth of data ...

    *NOTE: Channel Names must match those produced by the tvguide.xml file, for example channel 10 in your channels list must be named "Network TEN", channel 9 must be named "Channel Nine", channel 7 must be named "Channel Seven" (Perth settings) ... and so on ...

    I also have never used a set-top box with MP, but I think that you need to use an IR emitter (aka "IR blaster"). The IRSS software controls the emitter, and transmits IR signals under the direction of MP. The IR signal is received by the IR receiver within the set-top box, and so can be used to change channel and so on. The set-top...
