Why not use some GFX from the 3DMP skin instead of the eyes. That's the skin that won and will be ne new face of mediaportal anyway.
Maybe a small version of the basic home screen will be nice, or some of those nice boxes in the normal home screen.
Easy for me to say, as i can not even draw square in any of the GFX software packages :lol:

My thought is that the actual mp logo would effectively need a little refresh. Keeping the actual identity is really important, but adding some nice modern effects like, glass, light/shadow could give a far better feeling about the whole app.
Of course, this is not essential, and mp can progress without that, but since the logo represents the whole project, i think it should also be improved.
needless to say that your work is awesome vanessa, but the changes you are proposing are a bit "to much". That is only my opinion !

Came across this today, it's the Warner Music logo. :shock:
The Warner Music logo is one of the reasons why the MP logo feels fermilliar to me. Which is a good thing...for me.....but might not be in the eyes of Warner Music. This might become a problem in the future. Maybe it would be wise to contact Warner to make sure they are not going to make a problem out of this. Better changing the logo now then when Mediaportal has reached 1.0 final...isn't it....?
I must say I like the evolution idea more than the revolution (as mentioned before). On the other hand...with people like Venessa and Harley developing graphics, the current logo and font look a little amaturistic. No offence to the original artist..... It just seems a little out of date.
Keeping in mind that the gfx engine and the tv engine will be lifted to a higher standard with 0.3 comming.....a fresh logo design, representing MediaPortal as truely as possible, would be in place to my humble opinion. We don't want new users to turn to Windows Vista Media Center because of the "first sight"....I think. Eventough it would probebly only be a small percentage.

The current logo isn't close enough to the Warner one to be a problem, I just put it there to show where NOT to go when modifying the current logo!

Since over a year my MP sometimes stucks while showing the welcome screen. It started once a week now it happens every second time...

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).
