It is possible that you have a Point in the Submenu(that you can open with the Info Button from the Remote or right click with the mouse), which you can choose a Filter( Year, Rating, etc.) And when you select for example the Year Filter with 2011 it shows now only Songs with the year 2011. Similar to the Option in Moving Pictures, where you can Filter for example the unwatched Films.

And today I had a look of the Musik Section from the Windows Mediacenter. And I love that you can the change the View in Top of the Screen between Year, Genre, Album.... You must not leave the Screen to do this, and see directly the effect from the Change. This would I have in Mediaportal. But this is the only thing that I love in the MediaCenter

keyboard keys for skip steps

It would be great if there was the possibility to assign keys from your keyboard to skip steps in the music section. I know it's not possible atm to use the keys from the remote, but the ability to assign keyboard keys to this usefull function would be a great compromise!

This would especially be usefull for longer files, like djmixes, audio books, concerts, etc.

I hope someone can pick this up to improve the music section.

Last night I had a new idea for an improvement in the music view. The Views should be the same. But you should be able to turn On and Off a Grouping Feature. Perhaps in the Menu where you can change the Sorting-Mode.... And this group should be applied to the current sorting method. For example, when you have a Sorting "Year" and the grouping is off you should see all the Songs without grouping in one List, and when the grouping is on, you should have a grouping in the Years "2011,2010,2009...". This should be possible with Year, Rating, Interpret.... So when the grouping is off you can easy look into all Files and add all files to the Playlist. And when you would have a look into Songs from "2009" you can activate the grouping und go to this year, now you can look in Songs only for this Year, and add all to the Playlist.

Now you have creat different Views for each Situation.
Perhaps one View with shows all Songs with a Rating better than 5, without Grouping and one View with shows all Songs with a Rating better than 5, with Grouping etc. This makes it very confusing, and with the possible to Group this with a button you have a lot less Views.

I hope this is possible, because I'm not a developer ?

Don't remember if this has been suggested, but I would love to be able to have custom filtered categories that I can setup in the backend like Moving Pictures has. This way, I can create a playlist without having to go from one genre to another each time.

I would like to be able to create categories such as:

Electronica | a collection of these genres: House, Techno, Trance, Electro, Rave, etc (new additions are automatically added to this category)
Jazz | a collection of these genres: Acid Jazz, Jazz, Samba, Bossa Nova etc.

Having filters that can either include or exclude genres or artists would be awesome and (I think) a very welcome addition for people with large collections.

I hope it is not to late, but I have another suggestion: I really like the SMS/T9 style filtering in moving pictures. E.g. search for all fitting combinations after entering a few numbers on the remote.

But maybe this needs to be done on the facade level? It is also related to a bug, in coverflow pressing a number twice does not bring you to the right letter (2 x #3 stays on D). This happens in all coverflow views.

Yes this a very good improvement, maybe it is better than mine. So my Idea with grouping isn't needed if the Filters like Moving Pictures will come with Mediaportal 1.3 !

I hope very much that is possible !

Hello I don't know what you think about my work. But I have collect all the Ideas that I have found in this thread and wrote it into a spreadsheet. So you can see in one list all the Ideas and maybe can vote for the Ideas. Perhaps with numbers, the first Person give a 1 and the next Person a 2. I know that is not so good because a people can vote for a lot of times, but I think it is better as nothing. ;-)

I think some Items are duplicated but I have no more time, maybe the next Day I will a have a look of this.

Perhaps Jameson_uk can update the Status colume. Planned, not planned, not possible etc.

I want a menu item for sorting the titles in the playlist. The reason is, that an album is not sorted by titlenumber, when I add the completely album to the playlist, sometimes.

I love the new handling for multiple disc albums, but I would love to have a skin element that can be used as an overlay on top of the cover that will show the disc number. Sure, double albums are easy enough to see which disc is which, but for compilations with up to 10 discs it would be very helpful.

Also, it would be awesome to have more than one album cover for multidisc albums. I have some where disc one has one cover and disc two has another one.

I would like the ability to sort / view / filter by music file type. I have many flac, but also some mp3 and wma files. And the mp3 and wma files vary from high quality / high bitrates to low. It would be nice if I could somehow see the file types and bitrates, sort by file types / bitrates, and perhaps filter out certain file types / bitrates.
