I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. I'll admit I didn't read the whole thread, but I did do a search for the terms .ts, file, mpg, mpeg, and format in this thread.

Basically, my question is what format is in the .ts container? Right now I record from SD analog and clear QAM HD, both of which save as MPEG compatible .ts files. So will the files recorded from the HD-PVR stay in x264 format in the .ts container or does MediaPortal save the .ts file in MPG format no matter what?

The HD-PVR does hardware encoding to x264. You'll always get x264 out of it, that's primary reason Windows Media Center doesn't support it as it doesn't work with recordings in that format.

I seriously doubt MP is taking that x264 recording and re-encoding it on the fly so it's a safe bet it's still in that format.

OK - Everything is up and running. Picture is beautiful as is the 5.1 surround sound.
For anyone else that encounters my problem, it was a codec conflict.

The Arcsoft decoder was not showing up in after install, so I had to register the codec. For info please see...
HD-PVR Arsoft decoder NOT showing up - SnapStream Forums

Basically, the Merits were all screwed up... so

I uninstalled the existing Arcsoft Digital Media theater I had on my system prior to HD-DVR.
Re-installed Vista Codec Pack - Disabled the AVC codec.
Reinstalled Core AVC.... But when I reinstalled Core AVC, I did not add the Halli splitter (as the Vista Codec Pack already installed) and walla.... HD TV.

I am noticing a peculiar problem that I could use some help with though.
When I try to access the "recordings folder" from my HD-PVR - The one in Arcsoft Total Media Extreme (not media portal)

Windows explorer closes and re-opens. Is this a shell extension conflict? Anyone know what needs to be done to correct it?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Any word on whether the latest svn build fixes the driver issue? Or should we stick with the build in the OP?

    Hey Garry / Willee -

I've got everything up and running... very close to perfect.
But I noticed that when I recorded ER Thursday night that my image stutters really badly when the camera pans left or right.
I am running MPV for Video, ArcSoft AVC Decoder, MPA for Audio... Deinterlace is set to "Best".

Any ideas what I can do to lose the stutter? It will need to be fixed for me to keep the unit.

Thanks again for all your hard work.... so close to done!

    Best,
    Brian

    Hi all,
I merged garry's patch with SVN and adjusted it to met our coding standards. Therefor please test the attached version with latest public SVN build. If it is working I will commit the changes. And when it isn't working than please post complete logs and describe what isn't working. :D
