This has been happening quite often since I did a fresh install of RC5. I don't recall it being a problem with RC4.

When it happens, if I rewind 15 seconds it plays to the same point and then freezes again.

Logs shows lots of discontinuity errors
which says you have broken data stream (low signal or driver issues or something else)

Is same happening if you play recordings?

I don't have a great signal on some channels but this was on BBC1 which I don't normally have any problems/glitches with, so I don't think it's a low signal problem. I'm using the latest drivers for my Nova-T 500, and I imagine there's plenty of people using that tuner so it's probably not that either. I also didn't have this problem in RC4, so maybe that dealt with the discontinuities better but I guess we need to find out what's causing them. Any ideas how to do this?

I haven't really tested with recordings. I'll try a few when I get the opportunity but chances are it might not manifest as it doesn't happen all the time, just enough to be annoying!

    Hi,

There was a problem with XP SP3 and the Nova-T 500. I know this because I have one, and I solved the problem by upgrading to W7.

Have you checked the Hauppauge forums? There is more information on there, although my knowledge may be out of date.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Thanks anyway but I know all about that problem. I spent quite a bit of time in the Hauppauge forums and eventually we worked out the problem was with v5512 of usbehci.sys, which caused BSOD with the Nova-T 500.

There was a later version that solved the problem and I'm now using v5825, which is newer still. Perhaps advice about this problem should be on the MP install guide page, as I imagine quite a few people own the Nova-T 500 and if they're getting BSOD all the time they might assume it's a MP problem and give up on it. I'm not sure if any of the XP Automatic Updates update usbehci.sys to something higher than v5512. The v5825 patch has to be requested from Microsoft and is WindowsXP-KB969238-x86-ENU.

I'm wondering if the problem I'm having at the moment is related to resuming from hibernate, because when it happened earlier that's what I'd just done and it happened within about 5 minutes of starting LiveTV.

Tonight I've been watching a channel which had quite a few glitches/stutters and it never froze, but I'd closed MP to go into Config and then re-started MP, so maybe re-starting MP after resuming from hibernate does something that prevents the freezing problem. I also watched a recording with a fair few glitches and that didn't freeze either.

I have looked at your log files, but as usual they are unintelligible gobbledegook. (I am sure that the original developers who wrote that code know what the log entries mean, but those developers have long since retired from the MP team.) I regret to say that I think that you will have to use the "brute force" method to track down...

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...

I eventually came across the TwinHan driver CD that was included with the original product. The CD contains numerous drivers for the different TwinHan tuner models, but the drivers are for Win 2K (32-bit only) and Win XP (32-bit and 64-bit). The drivers install directly on Vista, and the drivers can be installed on Win 7 and Win 10...

Then you didn’t use Nereus Skin in MP2. tMM does a great job in combination with MP2 it’s the best, if you ask me.
