You could set it up to detect who just walked into a room and switch on that person's favorite movie/channel...lol

Or detect the position of a person in relation to the screen/sound system (since you get the distance of an object) and adjust light/sound settings accordingly.

I have a Kinect myself, and even though it's very fun to play, navigating the menus is still way better with a controller. The only thing I would considder using it for is browsing in filmstrip view. In that view it's probably better with motion controll then with a remote, atleast if you need to move far to the left or right.

But I agree that it could be a very cool way to have it detect users and controll home automation, but I'd wait for MP2 and Windows 8 since we at that point will have users in Mediaportal and sensors for this built into Windows.

what if someone walks in front of the screen while watching a movie? ...all of a sudden it fast forwards to the end of the movie and u see the villan die...or something
