Synopsis: The device is USB and has a light on it. When I use the accompanying Presto! PVR everything if fine and the light is green. When I use MediaPortal the card is detected and the channels are picked up when autotuning, but when I go into My TV the light doesn't come on (but I don't get the "Can't turn on TV" message). Instead, it sits there with a black screen and no audio? I've tried switching codecs and VMR9 / Overlay round with no effect.
Unfortunately I can't give any more detailed info at the moment as I'm at work and not by the PC.
I've since installed SageTV which finds the card but not the channels, then errors. I've looked into the MSI website and they don't seem to have a direct link to a page about the Mega Sky 580, but searching the international version turned up a patch for the bundled Presto! PVR software.
I installed the patch and that now creates error whenever the program is launched, so I've reinstalled the original (unpatched) version. I noticed that the Mega Sky 580 is in the MediaPortal supported list -- surely someone must have this card working (it's less than £30 on eBuyer)?
I'm grasping at straws trying to jiggle things around, although I did see a suggestion that SP2 is what stops the Mega Sky 580 from working. I'm not going to reinstall my PC to find out, but maybe MIB could?
By the way, I found using the roof aerial directly gave too strong a signal (despite showing as a poor one) - so I added an 18ohm attenuator to it and got a great signal quality with poor strength. The A/V feed is fine though! When I plugged it into my existing VCR/DVD/Freeview/TV chain it then had such a weak signal I took the attenuator off and it kicked back in again! Why is it so sensitive!?!
Since I installed 0.2 RC3 my MSI Mega Sky 580 works just perfect. It seems, this card was added to CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file by dman_LFC. Thanks for that!
Thank's,
I had already disabled the option in MP. Anyway, last night, after several tests, I suddenly hooked up the correct frequency. Honestly I've done dozens of tests and so I don't know what is the thing that unlocked the problem, but now it works.
