same here... I do have an ASUS Mainboard (M3N78-EM).. Tried a lot... Result: Won't work with this Mainboard. Everytime I plug in the device when windows is running, it works... Pluggin it in before boot of Windows, it's an unknown device.

Solution: Press the "Power"-Key on the remote, beofre the Windows boot screen loads. Then it will initialize it the right way ;)

Seems like a problem with the USB power supply for my ASUS Mainboard, so I switched to Gigabyte... Unfortunately the ASUS can start from S4 via USB, but Gigabyte is not able to...

    Thanks onkelchris.
You`r right, when I do that it works.
I still don´t undestand why. I normally do not have this problem, with my asrock AliveXfire-esata2 (a client PC).
I can see that the small green indicator light on the IR, lights up when I start my PC, but it goes out again
before windows XP starts, (unless I press the "powerbotten" on the remote to reactivate).
Is there realy nothing I can do to fix this.

i am in contact with ASUS... but after the superb support of Gigabyte, I don't think there will be a solution by the companies... so it's up on us... the customers who paid for the product ^^

    Hi onkelchris
    Thanks again
I kind of solved my problem, I just remembered that I have an old USB-PCI card.
I installed this USB-PCI-card, and conected the IR to this, and it works perfect.

Yes I know, and that´s what I ment by "kind of solved" my problem.

I have another problem, when I set up the remote in HIP, it seems like there is no keyboard-key for tv-guide,
so doses anyone know a way to set up the Guide-botton on the remote. I don´t find anything i the forum.

Hi I'm using this remote with MP in Vista Ultimate works as you say "out of the box but Randomly pressing the guide button and possibly some others launches Window Media Centre. How can I disable Media centre so it no longer launches???

edit: never mind I fixed it:)

Sim1964 How did you fix it?

    hmmm

I have a different problem, I can get the unit to work with the "eHome Infrared Reciever" driver, but when you press a button it seems to double up the press, and go into an infinite press cycle (forever scrolling up, or pressing enter)

This has to be a driver thing, as it happens when no other IR software is running, i.e. just the driver and windows explorer.

Anyone got any bright ideas? I have tried the drivers posted earlier in case it was the version that I had, but the same thing happened. :(

easy... ehome driver with editing the registry or replacement driver... then eventghost with the messageplugin... thats all... it works perfectly in MP, but the functions within the "normal" Windows are disabled...

    Yay, that works. Thanks you.:)

I've tweaked the repeat delay as low as it'll go without jumping multiple items in the home screen, but now it takes forever to scroll down (i know i can page up/down) I wonder if there is any way to change this? Obviously this is way beyond what i need to make it work, and into the realms of would be nice.. but if you don't ask...

Ran into this problem following an otherwise sucessful upgrade from MP 1.34 x64 to MP 1.35 x64 the CEC Remote plugin which I use just to control volume and standby, will no longer put my devices (TV & AVR) to sleep when the HTPC is put in standby. Many thanks for the answer. So far I've used Logitech's Harmony hub. This allows you to control all components (including the media portal). I have now contacted the Sofabaton hotline. It should also work here like with the Harmony. Unfortunately, not all of the IR codes are correct. You can also learn commands here. But that doesn't...

You can always try, select any window, turn off the Media Portal, change the ID of the selected one to the desired one (plugin) and check.
