I'm also going to buy this remote for my Vista PC.

Do I also have to configure anything special in Vista for this remote, or does it work, if I simply enable MCE Remote in Mediaportal Config?

yes it works out of the box!

plug in and enable mce remote in config. that's it...

As requested, here's a short german tutorial to get the remote working on XP:

    - installiere die eHome Treiber für die Remote
    - lade und installiere eventghost: Index of /downloads

ok... some kind of problem... big problem:

the remote is working fine with eventghost and the eHome-drivers (plus messagePlugin). i can restart my HTPC via remote from standby. BUT:

My HTPC starts, the green light at the receiver lights up. When the BIOS of my board is "initializing USB controllers", the green light turns off, blinks 1-2 times and is off all the time. Windows is booting, but my remote receiver is recognized as "unknown device"!

    Tricky:
If I do press the "power-button" again (after the bios initialized the usb host controllers and the green light of the receiver is off) before windows starts booting, the green light is turning back on and the eHome device is working perfectly in mediaportal. But this behaviour is very annoying.

Anyone outthere having a solution? Tried several bios versions...

Hi all, I recently purchaced this remote too (for my 1st MP client), I didn't know it was Vista only :(.

PLEASE could someone provide an idiot proof guide (in english ;)) to get this remote working the same as the standard MCE remote does with MP.
I'm running Windows XP Pro, and using MPtray to start MP with the "green" button on my MCE remote on my main HTPC.

    :D

    simply...

    ...plug in the receiver...
...don't let windows install the hardware, do it by searching c:\windows\inf\irbus.inf...
    ...ignore the warnings...
...install eventghost and use the files mentioned earlier in this thread...
...use the messageplugin in MP and disable all remotes (also the MCE-Remote)
    ...have fun...

    ;)

Thanks, but I can't use the irbus.inf - XP says it can't find a driver. Do I need a modded inf? Also, with this method would it be possible to start MP with the "green button", I'm using MP-Tray atm ;)

u don't have to let windows search... don't know, hoe it's named in the english versions... U have to lookup up for the device yourself... something like a "Expertmode"

if u say, windows should search in this directory, than it won't find something. Hope you understand what i mean?!

Ran into this problem following an otherwise sucessful upgrade from MP 1.34 x64 to MP 1.35 x64 the CEC Remote plugin which I use just to control volume and standby, will no longer put my devices (TV & AVR) to sleep when the HTPC is put in standby. Also when I wake up the HTPC MP closes or crashes (not sure which) as per the example in...

Many thanks for the answer. So far I've used Logitech's Harmony hub. This allows you to control all components (including the media portal). I have now contacted the Sofabaton hotline. It should also work here like with the Harmony. Unfortunately, not all of the IR codes are correct. You can also learn commands here. But that doesn't...

You can always try, select any window, turn off the Media Portal, change the ID of the selected one to the desired one (plugin) and check.
