Can someone examine my log files and tell me what occured to create a poor recording (especially audio) on channel 1320 ESNW-HD starting at 2:45?

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated!

    AFAIK this is not normal.
To me this would indicate either that (a) your Colossus was having trouble receiving the stream from your external source, or (b) that the external source was having trouble receiving the broadcast (?).

    Is the audio troublesome throughout?
Do the problems still occur If you skip the first 10-20 seconds of the recording (when audio changes from AC3/DD -> AAC -> AC3/DD)?
Do the problems show in all media players (MediaPortal, VLC etc.)?

    Regards,

Media Portal corrects itself but VLC is terrible throughout the recording. I am wondering if I have codec problems as well.

Okay, then it seems likely that the hissing etc. is triggered by the audio changes in the first 10-20 seconds, and that VLC doesn't handle those changes correctly. If that theory is correct I'd expect skipping/jumping past that section would work around the problem in most players (including VLC) if they can't self-correct. Can you confirm?
Note that when I say skipping/jumping I don't mean fast forward; that probably would not work... but it depends on how it is implemented.

In any case, those audio changes are triggered by the Colossus. The Colossus may well be encoding garbage for a few seconds while it works out what it is really receiving. There's nothing TV Server or MediaPortal can do about that.

If MediaPortal corrects itself, is there some other reason that you're worrying? Some other player that you use not handling the problem as nicely?

    Why do you say that?
