    I had a look at the Bugtracker and found something very interesting.
    Seems like there will be a RC4 before MP 1.0 :D

    haha seems so! RC4 appeared, and 1.0 disappeared! So much for my hoping to install a fresh OS and MP install soon!

    It doesnt really matter what they call it though, there are going to be just as many issues to resolve whether they split them into 10 RCs or 2! As long as its all fixed.

    I guess the good thing with an RC is that I assume more perople are willing to test an RC and report bugs, whereas many may not want to test an SVN?

    You know, there is always one final ReleaseCandidate software developers publish, very close prior to the final/gold release.

    Can not say more right now.
    Please keep an eye on the Homepage. :)

    Well yes, in theory one of the RC's become gold. However the whole concept of alpha/beta/rc etc is messed up nowadays, people seem to just stick on a label on any unfinished product (looking at you Google (beta) !!)

    hehe! ;)

    I think it's a good plan to introduce a RC4!

    MP 1.0 will be the greatest release in the Mediaportal History and it has to be (will be) perfect! :D

    Sometimes I wonder if Google just changed their name (to Google Beta).

    And Microsoft Windows:
    Alfa --> It does run
    Beta --> It runs ... almost every time
    RC ---> Still buggy - but kinda works
    Final --> Read: RC
    SP1 --> Read: RC2
    SP2 ---> Nearly there ...
    SP3---> Final (or close, anyway)

    In my personal developement I use the following naming convention:

    alpha - it runs, does some things, but is buggy and missing features
    beta - all the main features are complete, but buggy
    RC - feature complete, all known bugs squashed, however needs user testing. RC2,3,4 etc created based on bugs found by users. i.e. fix all RC1 bugs and re test. if any bugs, then fix and release RC2.
    Final - no known bugs, or bugs are only minor/fixed in next release.

    Indeed, the final RC should be same as the released product. Actually when there are known issues (that are planned to be fixed in the next release), software shouldn't be called as a release candidate. MP RC1, RC2, RC3 have been all wrongly called as RCs.

    But nowadays the software versioning is just pure mess... so please forgive us that we have used RC with a wrong meaning :) Also calling the almost finished product as a RC instead of beta will bring more testers for us :)

    Ok, I forgive you :D

    I wished all developers of comercial products would pay as much attention to what the users out there really need and wish as Team MP does. It's impressive for me to observe the continuous progress in MP development. And it's exciting to see a milestone right ahead. But we all know a milestone isn't the end of the road ;)

    So you may call it Beta4, RC4, Prerelease 4, V 1.0, classic, SE, Silver edition, final-1 or whatever...

    I don't care about the name of it. I use it! :)

    Best regards!

    You need to check the wiki for TVMosaic, you have recordings as source available once TVM is installed. And of course images and music are part of the NET6 version as for NET4. If you have issues with it further infos would be good.
