    (5) Since @framug is the one to blame for starting all this the one who should receive the credit for this suggested improvement, it would be useful to receive his comments on the usability of what it is actually possible to implement (in the absence of changes to the MP base code). Is this a worthwhile capability, if the limitation described in (4) cannot be overcome?
Well, I will be very clear with you on that...
I "fight" many years ago for many improvments in MP.
You can search it by search with my user "framug" to see what things and when it happend.
Finaly, I discover that most of my code has been integrated in MP (without a "thank you") but, I don't care (I know that sometimes, I'm rude and this can not be understood by other devs), for me, the most important is the user improvment can be done, nothing else and, I don't want a glory, I don't CARE !
Now, I would like to really thanks catavolt who made it's best to really try to made it possible (more than my first demand), it's pleasant and also, your tests and all your proposals, CyberSimian.
But I keep the first intention to MP devs : make it possible, PLEASE.
What if users doesn't use comskip or LMH ?
Should I dev something (not free and not opensource) to make it possible ? I hope not...

    I agree with this. (y)

I like what @catavolt has been able to provide :), but I have been thinking overnight whether I would add similar support to my "ClassicWide" skin, and regrettably the answer is "No". :( This is because the current level of support cannot give the correct indication of active recordings 100% of the time. If this cannot be fixed (and it possibly requires a change to the base MP code), I don't think that "DefaultWideHD" should offer this flawed level of support either. :(

Well, then this stays as it is now ;)
I won´t put this into master for the next release and also no evaluate further - if @framug is satisfied with what we have so far he can use it as is ;)
Maybe @ajs or @Owlsroost can modify the MP TV engine to give us easier and reliable/unlimited access to the actually recorded data?
We could then discuss the best way for skinning (e.g. a textbox scrollup etc.) :D
Looking forward to have this new exciting possibilities soon  :coffee:

I didn't had time so, I just tested right know.
    >when my video fullscreen playing, I can see red dot only when I do -15 seconds backward, not when clicking on "info" for showing the OSD.
    Same in MyTV :
If I am on the recorded channel, all is good.
If I am in another channel, no red DOT when clicking on "info" for showing the OSD but, if I choose going in another channel or, if I do -15 second to use timeshift, I can see red DOT.

When fast winding or skipping, what you actually see is a variation of the pause OSD. The pause OSD shows the red dot, so fast winding and skipping will too. :)

If I am in another channel, no red DOT when clicking on "info" for showing the OSD
The info OSD shows the "Active Recordings" button, but no red dot. This is @catavolt 's current implementation, but it could be changed easily to show the red dot with the channel names, in addition to the "Active Recordings" button. :) If you wanted to use @catavolt 's current implementation, you could make this change in your versions of the files. :) However...

The fundamental problem is that if you start watching live TV or recorded TV or a video, and then a scheduled recording starts, none of the OSDs will show the red dot. This is determined by the underlying behaviour of the MP client and/or skin engine, and cannot be fixed by changes to the skin -- it requires changes to the MP client code or skin engine code. :(
