That first build, 13699, crashes on the second transponder on mine. I'll try the second one now.

Edit: The second one just says "Unable to connect to <machine name>" when I start SetupTV. I'll try uninstalling everything and starting from scratch.

Edit again: After reinstalling it starts the channel scan, but crashes at transponder 11307000.

I just tried tvengine3-03-30-2007--01-15h--Rev13699. It crashed during scan on the same transponder 11856,Vertical.

I will try the other SVN now.

HINT: I deleted the SQL database before with SQL Server Management Studio

I have just tried the tvengine3-03-30-2007--18-05h--Rev13715.

It crashed also but on another transponder (2 behind 11856,V):
Freq:11934000 SymbolRate:27500 Polarisation:LinearV

In the attached zip file also the event logs are included.

I tried also the last SVN tvengine3-06-18-2007--01-27h--Rev14915
on my system on another Win XP installation (complete other hard drive).

I did 3 scan runs:
1. Directly after installation - suddenly all tp's aren't available
2. After reboot on the Cinergy1200 - crashed on tp 11856,V as before
3. After reboot on the SkyStar2 - crashed on tp 11856,V as before

My Result ;)

Okay,

my problem is not solved, but I've found the source for this crash ;)

It's Vista x64!!!

With Vista x86 the TVE3 (RC1) works fine here, but not with Vista x64.

In the 32bit Version no error occurs and everything worked qiet well, in Vista 64bit it's always the same problem and the scan crashs TVE3.

EDIT:

I'll tried:

Nova SE2 (could not test it in x64, no driver available!)
Pinnacle Dual DVB-S (tested in x86 & x64)
Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVB-S (tested in x86 & x64)

I don't know if it's any use, but NTDLL.DLL can be made to crash with an AV by adding an empty item to a combo-box list - I spent about two hours debugging this at work today - I was adding a blank field from a database.

It may or may not be related, but I thought I'd post about it.

The latest nightlies (as of Friday 22nd June) of MP and TV3 seem to be scanning correctly! It's halfway through so far with no problems.

...but not in my case, I've got still the same probs!

It seems it is not possible to use the engine under x64. How should x64 users use feature releases of MP without the old TV engine and a bug like this in the new one?!?

k, guys. i have been doing several tests with my Skystar2 recently, and it seems that ther reason for this crashes is not inside MediaPortal.

i will do the final step and do:
a clean reinstallation of WindowsXP -> apply SP2 -> apply dvb hotfix and test again

because all systems i have tested so far are 100% up to date with Windowsupdates. wouldnt be the first time that a new M$ hotfix/patch causes serous troubles.
it could also be that there is something on that transponder which triggers the crash. not sure at this point.

will do these tests as soon as possible.
