I had this with the "USB" and the "Audio" icon too. Both are core Win10 parts...
Fortunately I never had any hassle for these on seven different systems. Now seven may not be representative compared to a few millions in the wild place.

Do you use the Aero Glass effects for the taskbar? I do.
I have lots of USB drives so this icon is more often involved in some action as on an average system. Maybe this is the reason...
And the Audio symbol disappears while powering off my AVR during a DTS playback. Also not very common, but it happens...
Bu as the space is free and you can re- activate the icons with mouse over I'm pretty sure this is directly related to the Intel drivers. The taskbar is flashing and flickering often (also it should not) so this is a problematic area for the GFX drivers in general, at least if you are using Aero Glass on the taskbar...

    Yes

I have lots of USB drives so this icon is more often involved in some action as on an average system.
Some of my system here have in-built hardware, which is connected via USB, hence there is permanent presence of such devices.

And the Audio symbol disappears while powering off my AVR during a DTS playback.
This is the correct behavior. When powering off your AVR you are removing audio playback hardware and your PC literally goes dumb. Does the icon return when you switch it back on?

I'm pretty sure this is directly related to the Intel drivers.
It is very unlikely that the disappearing server icon is in any way related to the gfx driver. Besides my observations for this thread are made on a system with an ATI Radeon card.

The sound continues to play on my TV when I switch of the AVR, so there still is an audio device present. And no, it did not come back when I power on the AVR again. It came back when I move the mouse over it back and forth...

OK, that sounds indeed like a driver/Windows problem. Not applicable to my case though. The icon is gone.

Things are a little bit strange because when I call up the MP2 Server Monitor from the app menu, it opens as a standard window and displays the icon, but the task manager Shows it as a standard app, not as a background process. So upon resume the server gets reconnected and when this happens the monitor process terminates.

Does the server moitor generate any log that we could take a look at?

Alright, I analyzed this more closely.
    • After fresh start of the PC the task list shows an active background process MediaPortal 2 Service Monitor (32 Bit)
    • When returning from standby, the process is still there
    • As soon as the client successfully connects, the tray icon turns from red to green - and then disappears together with the background process in the task list
I really don't think that this is a driver issue ;)

Ok that's a completely different story. If the Service Monitor quits the icon has to disappear of course...
So there is something that kills the service monitor. It has it's own log files ("c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-ServiceMonitor\Log\") and it's own log level settings ("c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MP2-ServiceMonitor\MP2-ServiceMonitor.exe.config") so please have a look at it...

Gggrrrr, when you want to show the error, things suddenly work.

What I did was to restart the PC, then send it into standby and wake it up a few seconds later (I recall the issue with MP1 crashing after returning from resume, but only after longer periods of standby). I've been testing aspik's Dokan work and di a repair install of MP2, but now I don't remember if I did this before or after I wrote my "further Analysis" posting above.

Whatever, I will report back here if it happens again.

@Brownard another logs of failed installations. I'll take a look into the user management. Edit: I can confirm user management is completey broken with NET4 and NET6 :( Neither an existing profile can be selected nor a new one can be created.

Ran into this problem following an otherwise sucessful upgrade from MP 1.34 x64 to MP 1.35 x64 the CEC Remote plugin which I use just to control volume and standby, will no longer put my devices (TV & AVR) to sleep when the HTPC is put in standby. Also when I wake up the HTPC MP closes or crashes (not sure which) as per the example in...

When I tested MP 2.5 some months ago using TVE3.5, I found that "scan for channels" failed to find any channels when I selected a DVB-T2 tuner (a TBS 6284) :(, but succeeded when I used a DVB-T tuner (a Pinnacle 2000i) :). Obviously the Pinnacle found only those channels broadcast in DVB-T MUXes (in the UK we have both DVB-T MUXes and...
