This is really annoying, cause it screws up MP when inserting a DVD (like Jason Borne-movies).

I know of AnyDVD, but is there any freeware to skip this? Best thing would be if this was implemented in MP.

    I understand what you're saying.

When you insert a DVD the "PC Friendly" software on the dvd starts up and obscures the MediaPortal interface. Right?

Just off the top of my head ...

You could try playing around with the autorun options, something like TweakUI might be do the trick.

Otherwise, there is DVD43, but I don't know if that does it ... worth a look I guess.

    Hope that helps,

    I see.

There is an interesting article about that topic here. The bottomline however is that there is no way to simply disable PCfriendly. You could disable autorun and would most likely not receive any more popups but autorun itself also would not work anymore.
The only other way I found was using AnyDVD which runs in the background and prevents the popups from showing up. Since there is no way to simply modifying registry entries or something like that it most likely is no "easy to integrate feature" as far as I can tell. :sorry:

Well, if we knew how AnyDVD was doing it we could put the same feature into MediaPortal...

But given that there is already a solution (AnyDVD) I don't think we should bother too much.

DVD Region+CSS Free does it as well...

I'll look into it. Might be able to make a simple tray app to do it if I can figure out how it's being done.

    Cheers,

The problem is that PCFriendly (!!!) starts when trying to play the DVD. Not just with autostart, resulting in behavior mentioned by and-81.

Well, I believe AnyDVD does just this.

And-81: I do no longer have this DVD, so I can not check weather DVD43 will do it - but it does not seem that way.
I'll see what DVD Regio+CSS Free can do.

I've found some information on the web about selectively blocking autorun. We could probably add some code to do this into MediaPortal after 0.2.3.0 final is out.

    Cheers,

Hi Aaron. Did you ever have a look at this?
(Since you have nothing else to do :D)

I did, but I completely forgot after 0.2.3.0 came out ... I'll find the code again and paste it here.

    Cheers,

i love how subtitles are implemented in the MP2 videoplayer, this is just perfect. 1080p playback is also very good. But video playback in MP2 is buggy when playing 4k material. Therefore: PLEASE add an option for an external video player! I'd LOVE to have VLC back as videoplayer, like in MP1! This works perfectly. You will make a...

Many thanks for the answer. So far I've used Logitech's Harmony hub. This allows you to control all components (including the media portal). I have now contacted the Sofabaton hotline. It should also work here like with the Harmony. Unfortunately, not all of the IR codes are correct. You can also learn commands here. But that doesn't...
