Hi guys, big thanks for the hard work!
here attached you can find the italian string translation!

I have a question, as many other people I'm also using the movin picture plugin so I use the same backdrop folder for both the plugin, but with this new version I cannot use this folder anymore.
In order to still use the same folder, there could be an option to use the fanart in the main fanart folder as the default one, and then, if it exists, cicle the fanart in the movie folder?
I have all my backdrops named after the translated title and having them all in the same folder worked with the previous version!

your help is very usefull for discovering bugs and enhance the plugin.
Some new string had been added to languages files. Can you translate German strings and send me the new file ?

did an update on german language file - although I am not 100 % haoppy with it ;-)

The Switch options has one problem: The user has no idea, what is the current state - we either should display the current state in the menu, when entering options (e.g. "Switch: Always use standardgrabber (on)" - where "(on)" shows current state - or at least show a popup dialog (probably easier to do) after choosing the toggle option that shows current state.
The first solution would probably make sense, if reading status from MyFilms.xml and also updating it there, which is more work - the 2nd solution would just require to display an additional popup after change/toggle.

this version works without crash, thanks! And I have to say: Very, very nice !!!! Did not yet test all areas, but this is very comfortable - most update functions are now available from within the GUI - and the new function with manual title entry can fix problems with wrong title names - that works fantastic!

I am happy if I can support

1. Menu Layout in Main screen:
In the main screen, there is coming more and more entries behind "switch view" - ID3 - that is beside switching the DB-view itself (10 entries in my konfig) "change DB Konfig" plus the 2 update entries "movie scanning" and "global fanart search".
Suggestion: Keep the "change view" for changing the views as it is now and move the 3 entries into separate area/buttons.
I would suggest to add one menuentry for "change DB Konfig" and onother one for "options" where the 2 current update options are accessible - and there would also be room for future entries like e.g. changing options of the config via GUI like the "try to find best match automatically"-option you mentioned.
I think this not possible with skinning only, right?

2. Change DB Config shows "old movie infos" when entering aear or category view by default:
I have set up my DB configs to start in listed by year layout - thus there is no movie selected when first entering a DB.
If you have selected a movie in a DB and then change the DB, entering a category layout, there is shown the infos of the last movie selected. that disappears as soon as you move in the list.
So you might have missed to initialize the properties when just changing the DB - expected behaviour would be, that genrefanart etc. would be displayed instead of infos from last selected movie.
This problem does NOT appear, if the changed DB starts with a movie selected.
The problem also appears, when once a movie was selected, going in basichome and then reentering myfillms plugin in the GUI, if "always choose DB on start" is configured - but I assume the underlying reason is the same - so when selecting this, former selecteditem infos probably need to be reinitialized / resetted ...

I can't reproduce thar error. Can you send me an config file example and manipulations done.

I will give more details in separate post to reproduce.

3. "File"-Updates in Detailscreen:

I create a setup option for that purpose. I tried to display Keyboard when the standard Windows dialog file is unused but it's a nonsense as we have to give the exact name of the file not easy. I think about a list of files found in the Storage path setup option and a selection within. May be in the future...

So now the behaviour is like that: if "use win file dialog" is disabled, choosing this menu option just does "nothing" - which I find irritating for users. While this avoids the dialog (which is good) this option should in this case also hide that option from the user.
Better approach imho would be: Make it user configurable, as updateoptions 3 & 4 and let the user assign other more senseful properties. Can this be done manually via config file currently or is it ompletely hardcoded?

4. "Prefilling" the keyboard dialog with current DB values:

5. Main Screen: Left Menu sometimes unavailable:

Hopefully we can fix this until V5 final, not a nice thing and requires a reboot for me (or restart Mediaportal) right now ... :-(

7. Batch updates vs. parallel movie updates:

It'd be there conflits. I'll lock single Update during batch updates. Not done in that version

THat's a good idea - again, could you please show a popup to the user telling him something like "not possible because background updates currently active - try again later"

8. New Options "always use script" and "automatically choose best matching":

You can now switch the value of those two options in the new Menu Options (as for the use of standard Windows File Dialog). Notice that is only valid for the actual session. It didn't modify the setup value. So you'll loose that option next MyFilms Run. If you want that option permanently, change it in the setup.

I commented already in other post - while being nice to be able to toggle that from GUI, using it for the user is not yet "intuitive". Most understandable solution would be to display the current state in the menu...

9. Detailsview: How to handle "wrong" fanart:

You have now an option to delete Fanart thru the GUI. Notice that when you update Internet Datas, if the translated Title change, old fanart is suppressed (with Directory) as a new one 'll be created with the new name.

THanks a lot for that option!!! I saw the menu, but did not yet test it - have to switch to my testsetup first ;-)

10. How to change or add other grabbers:

The is a grabber Interface program written by Titof (and modiied by me for that version. But the use isn't very easy and Titof has prefer to not diffuse it. Ask to him if you can have it (I sent the new version to him)

Is there a possibility to create a "filegrabber" - e.g. a grabber for XBMC nfo-files? (Would require reading from filesystem instead a URL).

It's really different than other methods (grabb Internet Information) and the grabber cann't be used here (or used bur with adding a new method of grabbing. It's a lot of work but not really impossible. Do you think there is a lot of people using it ?

I found there is some trend to drop movie infos, covers and backdrops like that - and it allows interoperability with XBMC users etc. For me personally there is still another reason - I used a modified AMCupdater in the past to grab fileinfos into AMC-DB for moviefiles, that have no infos in internetdatabases. Also could be used to more automatically manage private movies etc.
and the NFO-Files seem to get like a cross platform standard. Maybe collecting some more feedback from others?

so I tested this with latest release and guess what: Half os the "problem" is already solved - so after having selected a movie and changing e.g. category view, the former infos and thumb (cover) is no more displayed - also works fine when changing the views while inside a DB. I assume this was fixed when you moved the "change view" to onother place?

What remains is the second condition: When having the Plugin configured to choose a config during start, there is last infos shown. And here how to reproduce:
- Configure MyFilms to have 2 databases available and choose DB on start (no default set); configure DB to enter enter in a categorized view per default
- Enter category (e.g. a year, a country, a genre)
- select a movie
- Press green button to directly go to home screen (leaving the plugin)
- reenter the plugin
- Dialog to choose DB is now presented - and the last movieinfos, including the Cover

It's not such a big issue, because as soon as you choose the DB, the new (and correct) infos will be displayed, but maybe it can be solved if you first reset the exported data when entering that routine in the plugin? (Don't know if the infos are kept by intension to make "return" possible inside mediaportal....).
Should be reproducable with infos above, but attached also a vonfig I used for testing...

Is it possible, that the Indexitem causes the display of the last selected moviefile when getting screen to choose config? (did not yet check content myself)

could you also "prefill" the dialog in the update section with "current db value" of selected movie?

e.g.

I would suggest to "prefill" with DB-value and only use "AntUpdDfltx" when DB-value is empty 8If I understood that value right...).
