Thumbnail generation - design problem: thumbnails are almost same and not very informative. (1 Viewer)

I can't reproduce it, i have only try from MyVideo :



This is my setting, thumb are created and thumb is empty in folder.

Does the thumb in video folder (the one that stay) is tile 1x1 ? (and the correct one in thumb MP folder is the one you have set in setting like for me 2x2)

Maybe i didn't test correctly, i'm testing against 1.4.0 Final and not with the patch from this post (so sorry if the issue occurs only with the bin from this thread .

I noticed the problem after I installed a patch from regeszter. But "after" doesn't mean "because of". I changed back to the original files and the problem is same. Although the patch could have potentially changed some settings, I cannot confirm that the reason is the patch.

Anyways, I have similar settings as Sebastiii and I am getting thumbs in both: local video folder AND ALSO in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Videos\. The local folder thumbs are 2x2 (as per the settings) and the thumbs folder are ALWAYS 1x1 (contrary to the settings). Are you getting 2x2 thumbs or 1x1 in your c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Videos\ folder?

One important thing I noticed: you have MP4 files only. Can you try a bunch of different file formats: AVI, FLV, MKV, WEBM, MPG, etc.
Please try with the patch.

I'm getting 2x2 and 1x1 (1x1 happen on fallback if ffmpeg didn't work, for me on video too short) but no thumb left in directory, so i will try with bunch of different files

Sometimes, in myvideos, the thumb is left for me too. But this happens very, very rarely. Impossible to reproduce for me.

The files from my sony video camera are .m2ts files. I use 1X1 thumbnails only. I haven't installed the patch from this forum. I just tried to simulate the problem to gather logs but was unsuccessful. Looks like it is an intermittent bug for me to. It doesn't normally worry me as I use syncbackfree to update my files to my HTPC from my NAS and each time this is run it will delete any unwanted .jpg files.

I just uploaded a short .mkv file to mediaportal ftp server. The file name is "German Coastguard Sinking - Learn English Commercial - for thumbnails testing.mkv". The team can use it for testing - this one for sure has generated an unwanted 2x2 thumb right in my video folder (uploaded a jpeg as well).

Just try you sample into my folder video test like above screenshot in previous post and it generated 2x2 and no .jpg stay in folder.

So next try, i will use your mp.xml and i will just change the path to my video folder and see what happen.

It can be a setting or plugin that trigger something, because i can't reproduce it.

Good, i can confirm your issue with your 'MediaPortal.xml'
Now need to find why/where it happen

Ok i have found the culprit and this issue is a regression introduce in ffmpeg rework and trigger when using 'enable file existence cache' option
Should be fixed now
