James, just wanted to really take the time to say thanks for all your work on this, I love WebEPG and think personally its by far the best grabber out there. If you need any testing of any description done please get in touch, I'd only be too happy to help out in any way I can as I am sure many others would be aswell.

I would like to thank BKCH for his instructions - I tried WebEPG, but kept missing channels/shows/information from the download, and by the time I tried to adjust my setup & download for the third/fourth time a day, it wouldn't give me ANY data.

If you follow the instructions written by BKCH carefully, it will all work out alright & is very easy to manage. I had a few minor problems initially, but once I'd made sure that:
a) I had created the xmltv directory under "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>
b) I edited the .py file to change the user directory of .xmltv to simply xmltv
c) disregarded the advice on editing out the change time setting

it all worked out a treat. Ive now got my EPG back up & running for the digital free to air channels, as well as my Foxtel Digital channels - Giddy up! :D

    Hi Dordo,

Thanks for the feedback and support. Testing the releases and letting me know about changes is already a great help.

    Johnny,

I'm sorry it didn't work well for you. However, because of all the silly games that the guide sites in Oz are playing (ebroadcast, ourguide, ninemsn, yahoo). WebEPG is currently not the best EPG grabber for Australian Guide information.

As I said I will continue to try and improve this, but some coding help from down under wouldn't go a stray.

    Cheers,

    /James

James - please don't think that I was 'having a go' at you - not by any means! I was quite impressed with WebEPG, especially in terms of the presentation & user friendly GUI. It appears to be far more professional than any of the other apps I've seen, and was certainly the easiest to get up & going.

Unfortunately, as you have noted, the games that are being played by the commerical stations & Foxtel/Optus have made things pretty much unworkable. Thanks for trying to help everyone out - you're certainly well on the way to a great plug-in for MP.

If only I could code, I'd be glad to help you out. if you need any testers for various bits & pieces, I'm only too happy to help - send me a p.m. if needed. :D

    I have to agree
Webepg is by far the nicest / user friendly grabber The fact that you can put in the channel display name helps out with other programs that use the xml file. Netremote for example.
If only it could grab from tvguide.org I believe most of the Aussie grabber problems would be solved.

We really do appreciate the effort James

    Kind Regards

Hi folks, please know I have written a grabber especially for Australian use and it has worked very well for all my testers.

PM me and include your email address if you want more information.

TVHarvest won't work any more as NineMSN now uses pseudo encryption to stop scraping of their site.
Any program that uses nineMSN needs some type of java scripting to decode. D1 has also stopped their service from what I understand.

If you read through the last few pafges of this thread you will find some instructions, as well there is now webEPG by James and AngusMann is also on the verge of releasing his (I believe).

There is about three active threads on this so you should be able to find some information somewhere...

    James:

How far away is HTTP basic authentication support likely to be in WebEPG? AFAICT that's the only thing keeping us from using WebEPG to grab the tvguide.org.au data, which would solve a lot of problems for a lot of us Australians. I'd offer to code it myself, but I'm a Perl coder primarily, and have never even looked at .NET.

    Cheers,

Well, I had already recognized your problem, but I still wanted to point out the basic connections once again. Unfortunately, I don't have a fundamentally different solution for you, but with this approach you should achieve your goal. ;) The idea of first setting the current genre colors with the defines is certainly a good one, as...

I used to use the grabber but a few years back it disappeared on FreeSat DVBS. That is when I changed to EPG Collector. The extra benefit is that it collects from the Sky platform so it will give EPG for all the FreeSat channels plus the unencrypted movie channels on the Sky platform. It also allows me to pick the channels dedicated...

Hi This is a general question about OnX. I have been using the TvWishList plugin for a while and have recently updated (update install) from MP 1.36 x86 to 1.37 x86 and found there seemed to be no Onx menu in the TV guide. I then configured the onx.presets.xml file like I would normally do with updates or fresh installs, but still...

How does the Timezone flag work? What input is it looking for? I went through the source code and all I saw was "America/New_York." I tried "America/Chicago" but still getting GMT times in the xmltv.xml file. Edit: Got this figured out. In the XmlTv plugin, you need to select "Apply timezone compensation when loading tvguide.xml" and...
