I have the exact same issue as the guys above... Watched the videos to be sure I followed the installations to the letter. Installed and made all relevant changes.Removed card entries etc,etc Server system runs fine with no problems. but the client reports, Connected to server and unable to connect to database. Cannot view any channels,Do not have any channels listed.Tried disabling firewall and Tried including all firewall entries from other suggestions. Network works 100% I'm able to share files and browse the internet from the client.
Using the latest Media portal and svn files.

I guess i'll have to clean install windows Media center 2005 if I cant find a solution.

Btw great work on the updates and the videos... Im sure alot of people appreciate the effort that is going into this project.... Very well done guys.

Thanks

M1CRO.

    try this:

    1. delete the database (with sql management studio)
    2. uninstall tvserver/tvplugin
    3. delete this file on the server pc
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal TV Server\gentle.config

    4. do a clean install of latest svn builds
    5. now its working (i hope)

    Hi Frodo,

When you say "delete the database", do you mean open SQL Management Studio, click down the left hand side where it says Database and then in the main part of the window, right-click on TvLibrary and delete it? Presumably I don't delete the other item, which is System Databases?

The reason I am asking is because the TV client is very unstable on my system (bug reports posted) and it looks like you may have fixed the problems over the last day or two. I want to be sure I am starting from a completely clean install.

Thanks for all your hard work.

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ? MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback. If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo. I have...

FYI, you can also play with these settings: show TV Server Configuration shortcut => Right-click => Properties => Compatibility => Change High DPI settings That way you don't have to change the whole scaling of Windows just for this particular application
