Although having said the above, even with a 6770 gpu, DXVA2 copy back just made the picture occasionally pause for a split second at the end of a scene change on h264 live TV playback. Problem resolved with changing the setting to DXVA2 native.
Using 'copy back' is pointless *unless* you want to use video post-processing. Otherwise it just wastes performance by copying decoded video from the GPU back into CPU memory (which then gets copied back again to GPU memory for display....)
Always use DXVA2 Native - which keeps all the video processing inside the GPU - unless you have specific reasons to use anything else.
