nyria: could you please try the attached dll (just replace the one in your Mediaportal installation directory). it is essentially the same as the one from the installer, but contains a bit more debugging output about the activity surrounding the things that happened in your original logfile. after a crash, please attach evr.log, which should be in c:\programdata\team mediaportal\mediaportal\log. (the topmost directory may be hidden).

Sure i will give a try, i'll post a log when mp crashes again.

Okay here is your log file.

Was watching VH1 for about 2 hours without anny incident. Then i switched to Net5.

Watched half a commedy show, then a commercial block, and then a second tv show started ... crash.

Got a windows system message that media portal wasn't responding, the close application button didn't work so i used the taskmanager to close it.

Come to think about it, i was testing arround a bit with evr last week and mp crashed during a commercial break or change of tv program a lot more, but it also crases randomly.

Hope this info helps.

Good luck,

Nyria

thanks, i have a fair clue where the crash happens, i'm just not really sure about the why yet. as you are using a dual-core machine, could you try assigning mediaportal.exe to just one CPU and see if this still happens?

edit: while you're at it: here is a dll with still more debug output. and as an added bonus, this one includes the same changes that frodo made, so encrypted DVDs should finally be playable.

I've been running mp all day now on a single core. So far so good.

Left it on a channel with soccer matches for most of the day. I will give a good test run tonight and tomorrow trying diverent channels and tv programs.

Gonna give this dll a try also and run a couple of dvds tomorrow.

    hi,

i am back after a longer period of testing. Now my 64bit system got a 32bit VISTA Home Premium
but i still have problems playing MPEG2 ts files. It seems not to be a problem with EVR, but maybe
you can give me a hint ...

I am trying to use tsreader with a MPEG2 decoder, but even in graphedit i can't connect one of
my MPEG2 decoders to tsreader for my ts files with MPEG2 video. No problems on h264 video ts
files. And because of the logfile info that pin0 is not connected and no possibility to connect it in
graphedit, i am pretty sure that my problems are related to a connection problem

But i have absolutely no idea why i have this problem ... can somebody please give me a hint,
what it can be  It's getting frustrating ...

o.k. now i can connect to the remote graph of MP and in attachement
you find a screenshot of the graph.

That's the same like graphedit generates if you drag and drop the
    file into tsreader.

The Video pin gets connected to Cyberlink Demux and like mentioned
before no videodecoder is conactabel ?

And i recognized that these files also don't play in WMP. The movie
starts and shows one picture, but no audio and it stays at this picture.

Is there any possibility to deinstall WMP 11 from VISTA and reinstall it ?

Still running stable on one cpu core. :D

Region 2 encoded DVD's play back without a problem, on the avivo mpeg codec. On the cyberlink one i'm not seeing anny graphic in the dvd menu (to see wich option is currently selected).

I'll keep Mp running in debug mode for the time beeing, if you need me to test something just give me a call, i'll keep an eye on this thread.

that's good news :) - but i still need to find the cause of the bug on dual-cores.

so it would be nice if you could produce another crash with the latest dll i uploaded in this thread when running it on both cores.

Just to say that with the latest SVNs EVR has blank screen again.
Audio works but no video, no matter which MPEG-2 codec I choose.
    Everything works with VMR-9.
DvbViewer GE works fine with EVR.

did it work in the past? if so, logfiles would be interesting, because there hasn't been a change in the EVR-code in svn in the last 6 weeks.

Hi all, I don't frequently update my MediaPortal and before seeing if it's really useful I used to browse the Changelog to determine if this update is necessary for my system or not. Today I wanted to check the Changelog for version 1.34 (1.31 installed on my system) and I was asked for a “Jira” login. I tried to use the same one as...
