Fixed.......kids must have been messing as audio settings in windows been altered so as not to output via spdif!!!!!!!

I have a similar situation except all my audio goes through spdif but if the signal is DD I'd like the reciever to switch to DD otherwise let it switch to pro logic.
In my situation all the Live TV must be pro logic and all movie stuff (divx and video_ts) must be dolby digital.
The strange thing is that I can choose different codecs...

OK. I have playing with x264 codecs and somehow I seem to have removed the MPA and MPV decoders. Is there an easy way to get them...

i'm having a strange sound problem.
after viewing a movie/show for some time in AC3 5.1
in ffdshow it's in Mixer/Output/
-> in window 'supported output sample format', the AC3 (SPDIF ENCODE) and encode only 5.1 are checked.
once the sounds starts to get metalic, i uncheck the "encode only 5.1" and the sounds go back to normal...

Ryan, correct me if i am wrong, i am trying to understand your settings.
- you use mpc as an external player in mp
- ffdshow does the filtering on the mpc video output
- you dont use the audio decoding in mpc but ac3 filter external

The errors you are seeing all relate too driver, if nothing else, remove the driver you have and install any cd supplied one, use something like Driver Sweeper to make sure all references are remove prior to installing.
Last resort, remove physically and reinstall graphics card, may not be 100% seated correctly.

As topic, when I´m trying to use PowerDVD 8 codecs to play DVD-files in MP the whole computer freezes up after a few secounds...
