well doing what you suggested allowed me to pick up all 6 of the BBC channels which it didnt find before, so now i have 12 in total... still not all of them, but a lot better than none!
Just need to come up with a way to find the rest!

The problem comes in, is how many times you have used RM to clear registry, so which backup to restore.

aha cracked it!
ac3filter was loading in the tray, under the "main" tab, i always had the "output format" set to "3/2+SW", changed it to "AS IS (no change)" and it works, yay!
edit: its gone back to 2.0 again. what the heck is going on!
edit2: oddly, if i use MP in windowed mode, i can open ac3filter and can confirm that...
