I have been experiencing similar problems with 'Error starting playback, connection lost, cannot reopen' within Australia. However I don't have any problems with the xbmc plugin (I think they've moved from RTMP to HTTPS):

Is ABC iView meant to be working currently? I am new to Media Portal and get URL errors when trying to view ABC iView

Sadly it isn't working.
I have some 80%-solutions, but without access to an australian vpn/proxy I'm not able to finish it

Btw is your onlinevideos working now, or have you more or less given up?
I know it's quite a hassle, but I think we were getting really close in june

In June we got to "have to wait for offbyone" to update online videos so we can fix the https issue. If you remember we confirmed thatcthe addressing was the same as the kodi/xbmc version but still didnt work.
So with that i stopped and put shortcuts on the destop. So now i jump out of mp to make them play.
