Recently got the STB connected up and working via component to the E900F and that improved the PQ slightly. After doing a lot of reading and researching I bit the bullet and ordered a Firedtv dvb-S2 and irdeto CAM. Would also be interested if you can record and watch and/or record more than one channel (on the same transponder of which there appear 3 for all Select's channels) with this setup. The digital everywhere online shop also has both new and recon floppy and firedtv dvb-s tuners on sale at the moment, which work out pretty good value, as long as Select don't move to dvb-s2 soon.

Sadly, it looks like there not too many of us using SelecTV- I've just signed up for the simple fact that it should work with a PCI card based solution and integrate seamlessly.

Unfortunately though, I have issues. I'm using a Twinhan 1034 (AD-SP300) with an Irdeto 2.26D CAM

Appears there's some sort of key update problem, fairly new to Sat TV so not too sure on the finer points, but I have intermittent "Channel is scrambled" responses when changing channel, and stopping during watching. The only way I seem to be able to recover from this reliably, is to put the SelecTV smartcard into the STB, wait for the E30-4 channel is scrambled message to go away and start displaying picture, then place the SmartCard back in the HTPC and restart the TVService Windows Service. Sometimes this problem appears so regularly you can't watch a program to the end, other times it will go for days with no intervention. Awaiting 1.1 to go RC1 in the hope that there may be some magic fix, but not holding my breath.....

Also, is multi channel supported by SelecTV and the Twinhan card/Irdeto CAM combination, and if not, is it possible and other way using a single SmartCard ?

I used to have a number of these issues before MP got the FireDTV CAM handling sorted out.

    Two things helped:

    1. Leaving the machine on 24hrs is important (as key updates come down overnight).

    2. Turning on the EPG grabber on all SAT channels with a low update interval say 30mins. (this causes MP to tune into the channels constantly)

With these two settings I was able to 'hide' most scrambled channel problems overnight.

Note I hadn't seen these problems for a while with the latest FloppyDTV (FireDTV) card/cam combo firmware and MP Versions.

    Cheers

    Hi,

I have the same Twinhan card but I have a 2.21A CAM and I don't have too many problems. The first time I can remember it stopping during a program was on Tuesday this week and a PC restart fixed it. Other than that I haven't had any problems with Select since 1 RC first came out. Prior to that the card did need to be taken out and put back in about every 2 or 3 weeks. I think I have only put the card back into the select box once and that was just after I got it and that was for a similar scrambled problem that you have. I wonder if it could be the different cam that is causing your problems?

I wish we could tune in 2 channels at a time and if you solve it please let me know :)

I still think the card is the way to go though. The picture quality is so much better.

You should be able to.. well at least record two channels at once if they are on the same transponder (which is about 1/3 of the channels per transponder). Make sure you look at your card config in TV-Server Config and change the number of times the CAM can be accessed.. (by default it's one).. This worked for me on the FloppyDTV. I could then record 2-3 channels per transponder.

Sorry I forget the actual names/instructions - but you should find what I mean on the card details under the TV Server Config.. I no longer use the DTV so it's not installed thus I can't pull up the settings to explain.

    Cheers

Good points! Didn't think of that. I leave my machine on all the time as well due to problems I have with my machine going into sleep mode.

Recently set up Selectv with a Firedtv 2 and Alphacrypt card. As this one has external power source it stays powered up and I guess keys stay up to date. I had seen the scrambled channels issue more with the STB although I think on Tuesday evening my setup also froze for a few minutes. I can confirm that the additional channels can be seen on the same transponder with this setup although haven't used the feature to record anything yet.

The default setting in 1.0.2 for the CI/CAM is 0 which is no limit - in researching this setup the fire floppy dtv allows multi decoding from the same transponder of encrypted and FTA channels while currently by the current MP documentation the Twinhan only supports multi decode of FTA channels TV-Server/tvcards - MediaPortal Manual Documentation Doesn't mean that it won't in the future I guess.

Tried to tune in 2 channels with my Twinhan card and failed. I could tune in 2 FTA channels (same transponder I am guessing) but couldn't get more than one Select channel. Couldn't even get the Select FTA test screen with any other channel so I am guessing Twinhan is a one channel only card. :(

Re: Calling all SELECTV users - EPG problem

Anyone having EPG problems now that Selectv has changed VH1 to MTV Clasic? No problems with the EPG on any other channel, just that one. Worked fine before the name change so it is a mystery.
