    Is it possible to add an entry to the windows-eventlog when mediaportal starts and/or stops?

    It could then be used as a trigger for a scheduled task.

    .edit: although we (probably) have found another way to get things done...

On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well.
