About the new MediaPortal guy who hold the movie roll and disc: "That guy plays the movies for me, mom".

Awesome :)

It's always a hard choice for skinning: on the one hand there's MP which is the "entertainment center for the complete family" on the other hand there's the "high tech geek solution to show off". Luckily we have skins for both demands :)

Where's the 'convince the wife/girlfriend, that the HTPC really IS worth the time and expense' skin then?
    ;)

Since The invention of Mepo, all my family loved the guy, so all thanks to glenn the creator, and harley making it into Blue3.

You've got to be hard faced, not to appreciate the Mepo character, its a fun thing :)

It's called XFace... or Aeon. Either one seems to work on my girlfriend :D

Seriously, we have so many great skins now that I keep getting yelled at because I like to change them every week. ;)

Even simpler, just have multiple clients in the house each with a different skin! Although my girlfriend is complaining that we're being overun by PCs! :D

haha, it took me 1.5yrs of messing to finally get the HTPC to the state where the GF loves it and any friends she have over can use it without instruction.

The first few months were awful though - "I just want to watch TV!!!!!" ;)

It is kinda amusing that ALL the above posts, after mine have GF moans of some sort ;)
I think I'm going to print out some of the screens from the suggested skins, stick them on a big stick and clout her with it every time she complains!
    :D
Come visit me in hospital, when she retaliates...

Hi. I was probably being a bit fast and loose with my terminology. I meant "somewhere within the files that MP2 uses in its database". Anyway, I found a way to do this which was far from automated but relatively low effort. I found what looked like all the images (CD covers, DVD covers, backgrounds etc all lumped together in...

Got a reply from SD ... "Looks like your last successful download was on 5/23. On 5/24 for some reason we received 194 connections between 10:54 and 11:05 triggering a denial of service attack ban. The logs show it was lifted on 5/25, but I still see the entry in iptables. I reset fail2ban and hopefully you're working again." Weird...

Greetings to all Denizens of the land of MediaPortal... It seems our Zap2XML/GraceNote access is broken again. I (as many others) have been using the latest NewZap2xml_6 and it has worked flawlessly. A few days ago it all died. I wonder if anyone is working a solution to save the masses. I am hoping the good citizen of past is...

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.

As Alexander Pope said: A little learning is a dangerous thing, and Dr Google explains this as: The quotation warns that superficial knowledge of a subject can make people arrogant or foolish, suggesting one should either learn deeply or not at all. "Superficial", and "arrogant or foolish" would be me  . However... I would...
