Today uninstalled RC4 and installed RC5 and restored the backup with the backup-plugin. Same problem. Any ideas how to fix it manually?

From internal discussions, the 'official position' seems to be that the red button never did open 'now playing' for music. Is it possible that you mapped this button to that action yourself?

While a couple of people have said that they expect this to happen, and even (like you) that it did happen, the team appear to feel that this is not a bug and will therefore not be changed.

Thanx, for the hint. I set "RED" / "Media is playing" / Windows: "Show Music playing now" in the remote config.

But what changed then? Because i just LOVED this option to first browse my music collection, start a song and after that jump to the 'Now Playing' with a single button.

It worked till RC4, and now i'm only getting lines like this in my logs:

2010-07-02 10:02:45.824292 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: g_Player: ShowFullScreenWindow cannot switch to fullscreen

Since the ShowFullScreenWindow is still working for TV/movies/series, and pressing Play on an album still initiates MediaPortal.GUI.Music.GUIMusicPlayingNow, did anything changes on those 2 behaviours?

Can anyone confirm that this actually happens (switch to 'now playing') in a clean RC4 install? The team members who know about this sort of thing are confident that this was never the behaviour, and I do not have time to go back and test personally.

I can confirm same behavior!

Clean RC6.

I think that needs to be RC3, since it broke down after upgrading TO RC4

Let me please clarify this: Nothing broke down.

The 2Red" button or "x" always sitched between the current displayed screen and Fullscreen Visualisation.
It never switched to Now Playing.

If this was happening on some installations, then someone must have reconfigured the Keyboard / remote Control mapping.

This is what you still can do.

So this is not an error and will therefor not been corrected.
Please remap the action to your needs, but don't expect a fix.

hwahrmann, multiple (i should say many) users reported that the action is behaving differently in RC3 and >RC3.

it's not possible all of them changed their mappings.

possibilities?
1. new installation changed mappings
2. something was changed in the code

in any way, it should be looked into

hwahrmannis right, I waited until him or rtv posted, the red button since way back 0.2.3.0 version has never taken you to "now playing" screen, only toggle viz on\off fullscreen.

However pretty sure there have been skins that when you selected music, then took you to the now playing screen automatically.

Hm... Sure about that? You're not referring to config-> music -[Misc settings]-tab-> Play now behaviour: Jump on "Play now" (selected: Now playing)
