I repeat: copying so many files from base skin is a bad approach!

What else should I do if they need to be modified? My "MediaItemsList.inc" has lots of differences to the base file and is much longer... I can not modify this file in the main skin because the main skin will not work properly with my modified file. I thought that's what themes are for. I've only copied files to the theme that are different to the base skin...
Will try the modified file later today...
