    AW: Re: Skype4MP with video

I try to get invite for SkypeKit, but it fails. I think, now get invite is imposible. Waiting.
But i found another solution. SDK for Python! fripsy, look there: Skype4Py | Download Skype4Py software for free at SourceForge.net
    Phanx for developing.

.. without looking deeper into it - but it seems this is just a wrapper for Skype4COM Api - this one is already available for windoes and afaik used by old skype plugins - we are looking for the new skype API, that allows to embed the video and replace the skype userinterface with our own ...

The Skype4Py is indeed just an API wrapper for Python, so it's the same thing as I'm using now...

I also did an extensive search (even in the millions of torrents out there) but no SkypeKit, not even for Linux...
Cause maybe the Linux kit could point me in the right direction... but nothing to find...

I'm starting to believe that this whole SkypeKit announcement is a hoax...
I can't find any proof anywhere that someone has a SkypeKit (Linux or other).

Well, I think there must be at least the linux kit - because there were some HW manufaturers incorporating it into their televisions (well, at least there were annoucements ;-) - anybody seen this already?) - but I also was searching the web - and nothing so far about the skypekitSDK for windows - maybe it was an early announce and it's not yet ready?

Thanks SiLenTYL, I guess we gonna have to wait a couple of months more by the looks of it...

Meanwhile, I'm going to try a different route.
I'll try to detach the video window, this has to be done off-screen, so the user doesn't see it happening, then it has to be moved in-screen to the spot marked in the skin-file.
I know this is not ideal, it will create problems with how commands from the keyboard or remote are handled, as Skype will be in focus and not MP. Might have to create a system-wide keyboard-hook to intercept any commands going to Skype and redirect to MP...
In theory this could work... but it isn't the nicest way of doing things... and I wonder if it's stable enough...

Will keep you posted if this could work or not...

    Cheers,
    Fripsy.

    Good news !!!

I finally found a solution for the video! No detaching video from Skype, no hacking... (well not to much ;-))
    No need for the SDK!

It works with both Skype 4.x and 5.x. The only difference is the actual presentation of the video screen.
I prefer Skype 4.x but that will be up to you.

So now I can continue this plugin at full speed...
I will first concentrate on the video part so we have something usable for the holidays, after that I will add the other features.

Now I can go to sleep (it's 2h35 in the morning over here)!

    Cheers,
    Fripsy.

    :)

Excellent! Been eagerly awaiting this plugin with video working :)
    Will this work on XP?

I meant use MP client to try to spot how it's requesting streams for specific channels and then try to do the same with VLC. TV Server development looks dead so I'm afraid you're going to have to figure that out by yourself if it's even possible.

Well, all that remains is to find someone who will add this render if it is a render.

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ? MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback. If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo. I have...
