It is now possible to sort your movie collection by various fields in the GUI. This feature is available from the context menu in the GUI and it is also possible to set a default sort order from the Configuration Screen.

Most movies belong to multiple genres, this is why in version 0.7 Genre is not one of the available sort options. What you really want is to be able to filter by genre, and this will be available in the next release. I know I sound like a broken record in saying this, but it is coming soon.
