Tried both Cyberlink 7.3, and ffdshow. Mpeg2 and h.264.
Can't find any vmr log, but this is from MediaPortal.log:

be sure to disable Exclusive Mode in the settings, or you will only get a black screen! This will of course be done automatically in a later build.

Tried combinations of ffdshow, cyberlink 7.3 and different nvidia drivers, and both SVN 15088 & 15120 (couldn't find 15089) with the following results:

SD/MPEG2: ffdshow: ok, cybelink: ok, but slightly higher cpu?

HD/H.264: both ffshow and cyberlink will show 1 frame after switching to hd channel and then freeze that picture. Mediaportal stays responsive and cpu is low.

    Where do I find vmr.log?

i can see 2 reasons for why SD+cyberlink uses more cpu: either it is not using hardware acceleration for mpeg2 (i don't know that, but i would suspect that it should use it), or it does more intense post-processing on the image.

on the other hand it is very well possible that ffmpeg is simply a more efficient codec for MPEG2 :)

i had the exact same problem as you described with H.264-TV, but i just found the bug. the attached dshowhelper.dll should fix the problem. could you please verify this on your htpc?

btw: the vmr9.log should be in the same directory as MediaPortal.log.

My MP doesn't even try to play any files with this. :p
Click on a movie and then it jumps back to file list in a split second, it looks like nothing's happening.
    I've tryed 15124 and 15088.
    Vista 32bit.
    Haali Splitter + FFDShow (tryouts) beta3 for mpeg2, h264, xvid/divx.

    logs, please. (mediaportal.log and vmr9.log)

edit: did you replace core.dll and dshowlib.dll with the version from above zip file too, or did you only replace dshowhelper.dll? because you will need all 3 files for it to work.

    Hi Eabin,

If you want to add this to MP main, I would suggest making it an option in the config under filter control. I've already added a bunch of VMR9 settings there. It would be the logical place to choose a renderer.

Hi all, I don't frequently update my MediaPortal and before seeing if it's really useful I used to browse the Changelog to determine if this update is necessary for my system or not. Today I wanted to check the Changelog for version 1.34 (1.31 installed on my system) and I was asked for a “Jira” login. I tried to use the same one as...
