Still can't seem to get any logs though. Don't even have a Log folder in my MP dir.

since you're interested in EVR i assume you're using Vista (-:

in vista things like logs, cache etc. are saved in C:\program data\team mediaportal\mediaportal or something like that.

    Yep, Visa 32-bit (Eng).

I don't have a program data folder anywhere on my system.. :p
Am I supposed to create them?

I thought such things should be saved is %appdata% folder but I guess I'm wrong since mediaportal doesn't even have a folder there. :p

EDIT: Wait I found ProgramData. ( C:\Users\Johannes\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal ) Hehe. But there are still no logs.. :)
    All that's there is MediaPortal.xml and keymap.xml

Can EVR be used in XP?

    I dont think so.
The EVR depends on a few dlls which are only present in vista
    - mf.dll
    - evr.dll
    - dxva2.dll

I would have to disagree :)

"Typically, the EVR is not installed on a computer running Microsoft Windows XP. The EVR is not part of Windows XP itself, and installing Windows Media Player 11 on Windows XP does not install the EVR. In some cases, however, a computer running Windows XP might have the EVR installed. For example, installing Windows Presentation Foundation on Windows XP results in the EVR being installed as well."

I don't have much details, but there is a modded version of MPC Home Cinema with EVR support that apparently also works on XP.

As requirements it states either .NET 3.0 or
if you dont want to install it
    http://www.zshare.net/download/2363822cf12890/
copy both dll’s to \windows\system32 and register
    evr.dll with regsvr32 - or use the reg_drag&drop.exe

the link also contains a "dxva2.dll" that does not need to be registered.

MPC HC is open source, so perhaps this could give hints (alhtough I don't know if the mod is)?

Edit: Doom9 link with discussion here.

even if it does work under XP, you will lose any HW-acceleration, since it depends on DXVA2, which is exclusive to Vista. So you are most likely better off using VMR9 under Windows XP.

edit: about the logs: it may depend on from where you start MediaPortal.exe. The dshowhelper.dll will simple try to write the file "log/vmr9.log" from the current directory. If the directory doesn't exists, it won't work. You would have to check the shortcut you use to start MP, to be sure in which folder the logfiles are. If you still can't find out, you can e.g. use the Sysinterals ProcessExplorer, which will tell you the working directory from all running processes.

in c:\programdata\.... i only have logs from TVServer3. My MP Logs are still all under c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\Mediaportal\Log

    EVR on XP

media player classic Home Cinema 1.0.8.3 (Test version) is capable of running media through EVR on XP.

I installed .net 3 and got the file evr.dll and dxva2.dll
    evr.dll is registered, dxva2.dll can't be registered.
mf.dll is not on my system.

MPC1.0.8.3 plays media fine on my system with XP.

    Just for your information.

    >mf.dll is not on my system.

The EVR implementation written by eabin which is now in SVN
needs the mf.dll for the method MFGetService()

Since this mf.dll is not available for XP, Mediaportal does not support EVR on XP
Perhaps eabin can tweak his sources so MFGetService() is not needed anymore
when thats done, mediaportal should be able to use EVR on XP

It seems to ignore DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) in anamorphic video files.

Hi all, I don't frequently update my MediaPortal and before seeing if it's really useful I used to browse the Changelog to determine if this update is necessary for my system or not. Today I wanted to check the Changelog for version 1.34 (1.31 installed on my system) and I was asked for a “Jira” login. I tried to use the same one as...
