Well this wont solve the 2 MP thing..
Before I found mediaportal and built a HTPC i bought a media streaming device (mg-35) which plugged in to my tv and my network. it didnt have recording or pause live tv but it allowed me to access all the content on my shared folders (music, movies, pictures). I now use this as a secondary unit and...

depending on your motherboard and your sata controller (silicon image, promise, etc) there are different methods.
When you set up and enable RAID/SATA in the BIOS the drives may not show up as regular drives in the POST but will show up in the RAID BIOS, after the post.
If your motherboard is more than a year old, this may explain...

Hi again,
I will try to explain a little bit better ;-)
As mentioned the htpc must be hidden in the kitchen to be used as webbrowser, internetradio, mediaplayer, calendar, slideshow and DVB.
Other rooms must only be able to listen to stored music on the HTPC as well as internet radio. All rooms must be controlled individually...

Hitachi is releasing some new disks suitable for media. They are said to power up quickly, be very quiet and provide continuous dataflows.
Out soon.

Would be interesting if anyone had the chance to test or have seen a review.

Great idea :)
It requires a bit fiddling and head-to-wall-bashing, yes, but it is "doable". I think the receiver in the Antec is poorer than the e-home. But yes; it looks better :)

I've got nothing to start with ... so lets be creative in trying to determine what I need/want :)
My requirements are:
1) I can receive and record broadcasts from my Rogers Digital Cable provider (I'm expecting that I'm going to have to use the set-top box for this, as I haven't seen any cards that can handle it yet).
2) I...

Too bad you had so many problems! I am running the same motherboard, with XP x64, MP0.2.3 RC3+SVN.
...I wouldn't say that I have never had a problem, but nothing strictly MB related. Get the latest ATI drivers, ffdshow & Cyberlink for codecs and you should be good. I really like all of the audio-vidio input/output options...

Speed is nice but for shore not a requirement for a A/V server 40mbit=5MB/sec(*) is really the max you ever have to stream even the first IDE drive that came out can still do that
A Areca 1160 (16x sata) whit 14 disks can still do 200MB/sec and yeah the IOP 341 scales mouths better 14 disk do around 750GB/sec
But whats the point...

I have something to say about that. I own a NVIDIA 8800gts640, which is a very good graphic card. It was given to me so I'm not complaining, however: The nvidia driver does not allow you to clone the screen on different resolutions, which is a bitch if you own a HTPC housing with a lcd screen. dual view means you have to manually drag...

I had to run my output (vga) to 1366x768 to achieve a 16:9 resolution that works both in Windows and in MediaPortal.
You can also set it to 1024x768 and achieve a 1:1 pixelmapped resolution but with the wrong aspect ratio. To make it look right in MediaPortal you have to run the screen calibration in settings and adjust the box so...

Hey,
I've been reading a couple posts on the forums about hardware and software encoding and decoding on analog TV cards recently, but I need some confirmation as to what's used for what.
From what I've read so far, I understand that hardware encoding is used primarily for recording and timeshifting, whereas decoding is used for...

Hello,
I have been trying to design a HPTC solution for a while now that would include the ability to utilize my Directv Satellite receiver.
Currently my directv dvr(dual tuner) receiver is connected directly to my tv. How would I throw a mediaportal hptc into the mix? What hardware would I need?
I know that in the U.S. there...
