1. Don't get it... quality is good - often better than directly connected to TV, IF you have right TV, right codecs etc. There are recording tweaks tjat can be done (increase bandwidth)
2. Yes. For radio, you can also use IP-streams. Rec.: PVR-500 (two tuners in one card)
3. Don't know

Hi everybody,
Has somebody experiented the SONY LA2 or, better, LTS1 with MP?
Do you know if the TV tuners included, as well the remote control are compatible with MP?
Are they noisy?
These equipments are so beautiful, everything is included into a 22' LCD screen, even a blue ray floppy disc!
Big problem: the cost, but you...

What you save buying this would give you a real headache trying to upgrade.

Hello and my greetings to all of you here at the forum.
My Dreambox went dead the other day and I now want to replace it with a HTPC. So the main-thing for my set-up is to watch Satellite-TV using my STAB HH-120 m/rotor and my ordinary Philips 16/9 widescreen CRT TV (no LCD/PLasma) with SCART-input. This was the way I used it with...

I heard good things about the NEC and Plextor drives too, and since NEC's where the cheapes, I bought one of those. Unfortunately, it was anything but quiet. Might have been the model (Sorry, but I can't remember it right now), but it was very noisy. So I returned it and bought a Plextor PX-810SA (Sata Drive), and it has been running...

I just ordered a 3R system HT-1100 case which in my opinion looks quite good, and it has room for full-size ATX.
I'll comment more on it, when I get the chassis and the hardware installed - hopefully tomorrow.

The plot thickens ... I updated some drivers http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/hdmiaudio-xp.html and the sound through the 'standard' DVI-HDMI adapter improved dramatically, still a very slight crackle.
The ATI adapters also arrived today so I've swapped with one of those and the sound is great, so I'm happy.
I can't test...

I realise this may sound strange at first, but I will explain. My Internet Service Provider has given its subscribers access to some local TV channels through our internet connection. This means...

So how does this work again in Europe?
for DVB-T you need a MPEG2 decoder and is in .ts containerformat and can only be in SDTV bandwidths,
for DVB-S you need a MPEG2 decoder and is in .ts containerformat and can only be in SDTV bandwidths,

I don't think so, DX10 is still very new and does not really add anything to movies or HD playback imo.
Unless you plan to be able to play the newest games on your HTPC, DX9 should be fine for years.

Setup depends on what you want to do !
I see that you have a very powerful CPU for the server and much slower CPU's for the clients. Now if you only want to record SDTV, then you dont need such a powerful CPU for the server. As all the server does is record the TS to Harddisk, it doesnt need to do any processsing of the videostream...
