I take it that you are talking about a REAL ehome receiver showing up in device manager.
You then need no other software enabled for this device, only the tick against use mce remote in MPconfig remotes.

Seems that most of your problems would be solved by disabeling vista mce via the registry. I have done this succesfully. Open my thread in ongoing htpc projects, high end htpc mp based and there is reply with a link telling you how!

If I start any kind of livestream (Video in MyMusicVideos, wwitv, ZDF mediathek etc.) MP starts to buffer the stream, then changes to Fullscreen, starts to play sound and the video an then stops immediately. Sound plays, picture freezes and MP crashes (reported by Vista).

The problem I am having is that when I resume from standby and enter My TV the "TV On" is always off. When I launch MP, it is set to on by default, and that works. It only goes off after a standby/resume.

I would guess this is the problem. A IR receiver is not a "standard" thing - they differ in many ways.

I install the .dll file located in the plugins/windows folder in the downloaded game into the Media portal\plugins\process folder. It shows up in the Media Portal configuration and lets me enable or disable the game but it doesn't show up in media portal itself.

As this is a hybrid would recommend using TVE3.
